Doesn't every new semi-auto come with a spare magazine?

If that's true, why do so many ads read something like: "....comes with one magazine. Spare magazine available for $xx."

I can understand a seller trying to squeeze every dollar out of his stuff but if there are two magazines, then include the spare with the deal.

This "spare magazine not included" business is almost as annoying as the $45 Priority Mail shipping cost.

Every new semi? Nope. More and more come with one.

Often now they'll throw in an extra mag, a cheap holster, and market it as a carry kit or something.

Recently a customer was looking at one of the new small
.380 autos at our shop. Either a Sig or a Colt Mustang.
Almost certain it was the Colt. There was a compartment
in the box for a spare, but we couldn't find it. Like to have drove me crazy.
Finally, after the customer had gone w/o buying
the pistol, the manager looked it up on the net. The page on
the gun from the distributer said, "supplied with one magazine."

Many Kahr semis come with only one mag.

Many of the lower cost models from many manufacturers ship with one mag to try to stay price competitive.

Get up to the more expensive models and 2 mags are common.

One of the many reasons I bought the M&P .380 was b/c it came w/two mags.

All the Sig Sauers we've sold have only one mag supplied. Kinda strange to pay all that extra money because it says 'Sig' on the side, but you only get one load.
Ruger LC9's have been coming with one mag, and an orange plastic 'practice' piece.
Then there are the Glocks, with one spare in the Gen 2 and 3 package, and two spares in the Gen 4.
Don't know why they all do it that way, but then they didn't ask my advice. Acebow

Most do, some don't. But when selling a used gun it doesn't matter.

With a new M&P you get 2 mags and S&W will add 3 more. Too sweet a deal for me to pass up.

My 1990s Colt Gov't .380 came with 3 stainless mags.
My Sig P239 (2006?) was one of the last to come with 3 mags.

If I sell a Firearm I give the Buyer everything that goes with it.
The last Rifle I sold included the reloading dies.

I use Wilson Combat or Tripp mags in my Colt, Regards Ernie

My Rock Island Arsenal GI Fourty five--only came with one mag but--the seller threw in two more.Last gun show-I picked uponly one more--which is supposed to be Govt issue--because I picked up a spare STG four four/Twenty two--mag.

Nothing like taking one of the biggest advantages of semi-auto over revolver away right at purchase--faster reloads. I will never understand one mag when you purchase. Let me pay the extra from the get-go for 2...better yet 3 mags. I think a lot of it is because they have trouble producing enough mags to offer with each pistol because sometimes you can't even find available mags to buy after you purchase the pistol. I also think they make more money selling propietary mags individually rather than with the gun. Either way...buyer be screwed.

Edit for a late thought (better late than never,eh?) my Beretta M 9 came with 2 15 round mags. My wife's 92A1 came with 3 17 round mags. Yeah, yeah they fit mine.
