I'm pulling my '94 25th Anniversary Trans Am GT Convertible out of storage this weekend. It's been hibernating since the beginning of November. I put the top down May 1st and unless I get caught in the rain, it stays down until winter storage. I often drive with the windows up and the heat on, but the wind is blowin' my hair!

I gotta have her gussied up for the Memorial Day parade so Kid Koz can drive his WWII vet grandfather in it.

Very cool.
Got a sweet young thing to set next to him on the rear deck?

Love convertibles. My first one when I was young was an MGA roadster. It had a soft top and the tonneau cover. I would unzip it 3/4th back, which run it over my shoulder and kept the passenger side enclosed, turn the heat on and drive it in the dead of winter that way. I was told I looked like a varmint poking his head out of the hole. Had to put up the top when it snowed or rained.

My wife and I have a nice Jeep Wrangler, it is a 3rd vehicle, use some in the winter, the wife drives it close to her deer stand. When the weather warms up we drop the top and put on the bikini top. No doors. Love it.

When you take the doors off do you and your wife put your feet up on the sideboards GI style? I take the doors off my jeep just to get to do this and pretend I am flying down the roads of Normandy!

He's at the helm of the Pontiac with grandpa. The scout is from a local troop.

Have only had one day that I could put the top down on my Mustang convertible so far. This weekend the forecast is for 70s so maybe then. I also got my 64 1/2 coupe out of storage, so I'll have to flip a coin to see which one hits the road.

I thought this was going to be a "fill-in-the-blank" thread. You know, "There are two types of _____."

I was going to say. "Women -- high maintenance and cosmically high maintenance." Although I guess the "top up top down" thing could apply to them as well.

Used to. I've had in this order, an M-38, M-38A1, 75 renegade, 76 CJ5, M-38A1 (gave it to my son) and currently a 95 Wrangler all slicked up.

I quit doing the foot thing when we lived in the St. Louis Metro area. Too much traffic.

When I lived in a small town did it all the time.

Like your photo.

I run across a WW 2 Ford Jeep and tried to buy it in the early 70's. The guy put it in his barn. His brother was the sheriff, got it from the government for the department and took it home. He was in a lot of other trouble and did not make it to the end of his term. Grand juries will do that to ya. I suspect they dug a hole and pushed the jeep in and covered it up.

Anyway, I drove a '76 Spitfire for a while. Easy to keep in tune, great to work on, just pop the bonnet and sit on a front tire... engine pretty much in my lap. Absolute blast to drive thru Fla. lake country.

Didn't keep too long as I could not get used to being able to reach over the door and touch the ground.

Nothing like opening the throttle and skipping through the gears on a Trans Am, I've had the opportunity to drive several and even one of the Fire Hawks a few years back. I would love to find one in good condition that hadn't been ran too hard and mistreated. That's a very nice example you have there.

It is easier for me to count the days the top is up, there are so few of them. I wonder about those folks that buy a convertible and never put the top down.
