DO YOU LOOK FORWARD TO DEATH ?
Same rules apply---keep the theological sermons out of it.
I rather enjoyed the insight gained from the first query.
PS--if you wish my opinion, on either question. I will be happy to share if you PM me .
Blessings

Not me but my dad certainly did . He and my mom were married 72 years, I think he for all purposes died when she did. He lived 5 more years, almost to the day and when death came he welcomed it. A strong man in life and in death. I hope when my time comes I can measure up. I imagine my dad and Federalis dad who passed about the same time would have had much in common.

No, I don't fear death. When my time comes I'll be at peace.
And no I'm not looking to speed the process up.

The last time I had a hangover, I was wishing for a quick and merciful death. I do not look forward to my ride being over. I believe I will be a little disappointed that the ride ended so soon.

If someone is "looking forward" to death, nothing is stopping them from speeding their death up.

Of course I don't "look forward" as in eager.
I think as the years pass I am increasingly more aware of the inevitability of it, but I wouldnt want to be one of those who obsesses. Life is too short to spend much time thinking about being dead. I figure there will plenty of time for that after....

In my short time on this little speck in the vast universe I have been a devout believer in a spiritual afterlife and gone the complete reversal and believed that in the end nothing happens, its just over. Either way I was never scared of the end and always made sure my famly was well cared for if I went prematurely. Coming up on 64 next month and been through multiple accidents and near death situations, the war in Vietnam, surviving prostate cancer coming up on 11 years, there is nothing to fear. I have considered all the many possibilities from belief in the Man in the Sky to it all being about energy and the infinite possibilities rolling out of that discussion, call the end of life as we know it the beginning of a new adventure and hope everyone involved is a little higher evolved...thats kind of what I like to tell folks that ask me what I believe. Otherwise were back to nothing happens, lights out, the Big Sleep. Either way I'm OK...

It's a beautiful song, but the lyrics of Mahalia Jackson's song on the subject (Trouble Of The World) kind of creeps me out. I won't post it here, because of the no religion rule, but it's available on YouTube, (by DeyJohnson).
I don't look forward to death. I just keep waiting for my Good Karma Reward, that never comes.

Not at all. I just retired at 53 after 30 years in oil and gas, the last eleven of which were spent in Canada, the UAE, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Australia and Korea so am ready to live to be 90. I also did a stint at our Deer Park refinery 2000 - 2003. No religion here, just meeting goals set many years ago.

Hell no but I'm a gambler and am backing Pascal in the wager of eternity.
I am, very patiently, looking forward to the Rainbow Bridge reunion.

Not as much as paying taxes. Based on our system (not my choice), paying taxes is a general sign of ongoing financial health.
As much as I can envision, the only way I'd look forward to death is at a stage of accelerating and irreversible physical or mental deterioration, rendering me not just useless or in severe pain, but also a significant burden to family.

From the infallible internet:
From author Ayn Rand. She's talking about the death of her husband at the time, and her eventual death.

George Burns once said that growing old is not so bad when you consider the alternative. I disagree; Dying isn't so bad when you consider the alternative (old and vegetative).
Don't look forward to it but don't far it. Would like it to have some meaning, though!

As a forward looking person I acknowledge that I will someday die. At only 60+ years old I will leave it to my survivors to pick out my casket and resting spot. If they toss me in the river I am fine with that.

If you are not looking forward, then you must be looking backward.

Planning Ahead
I'm 80 and have been shipping two guns a year to my son in TX (his birthday and Christmas). He never knows what he's getting. Lucky guy is getting a pristine 952-2 for his birthday in June.
Not afraid of death; just planning ahead and thinning out all the "stuff".

That's sort of wishing your life away, isn't it? What sort of situation would one be in to look forward to that day? My mom was there but she was 92 and had some serious health problems.

I am still recovering for back surgery. I still remember the pain I was in; there were moments that I thought death would be better then the pain. I can see why people would look forward to death. Now that the pain is gone I look forward to what might be in store for me tomorrow. I also know that tomorrow is not a promise; but it is a gift.

So far I'm too damn curious. I'd be afraid of missing something really interesting.
But I'm a lot closer to eighty than seventy and my health isn't superb to put it mildly. It's coming. I just hope it's reasonably quick and clean.
Maybe someone could drop a Steinway grand on me from a fifth-floor window. I've always loved music.
My family members know that if they keep me just ticking by means of respirators and tubes and drips, I will come back and haunt them.

I look forward to enjoying life, but;
When I am done I will see Charon at Acheron or Styx.
The Devil will be in a fix,
He gave me to a mother bent and bowed,
I plan to lock and load,
He'll soon see I'm the horse that can't be rode.

The lyrics of a country song come to mind, "Everyone wants to go to Heaven, just not right now!" As I age and the pace of good friends passing on increases , I fear death less everyday, but that does not mean I am ready because I still have a lot to live for. All my very best, Joe.

There comes a time when every man will cry
Even you, even I
There comes a time when every man will die
Even you, never I
The problem as I see it is, when you die, you are the only one going. Consider the response if you were to ask your friends and family to join you. I think that is the point of answering this question.
