Good thing the police was there....Could've been a lot worse.
Folks ought to act better out in public.

This isn't about real people. The problem was between biker gangs. I just hope no innocent bystanders were hurt.
Saw it on the Net and just saw it on NBC news.

Unfortunate choice of locale. Looked like innocents may have been caught in bad spot. According to the story, police were aware of the meet yet could not do much as the eatery management allowed the gathering. Things must have gone south quick before PD could respond appropriately.

Just waiting for the hue and cry with marches in the street. After all, biker lives matter too.

Twin Peaks management knew about the meetings, and never warned police.
I just don't understand people

That is the big news here in our parts with us living so close to Waco. Management there had been warned by local authorities of the possibility of serious trouble because the place had became known as a biker gang gathering place, but they wanted the customers and money. There were over half a dozen police units and others on scene before the trouble but the number of bikers there today were in the hundreds and from three known so far rival gangs.

All cops alive.
The only fatalities are gang members?
Clean up the trash and move along. Nothing to see here.

Not sure on if it was just gang members. I have heard other patrons and bystanders were injured.

The antis will seize upon this to promote their anti-gun agenda. Frankly, they seize upon everything. Let's all email our legislators that "universal background checks" would not have prevented this and that they should continue to concentrate on the criminal mis-use of firearms.

XFuzz,
You seem to be the master of understatement. You would call Hiroshoma that place where the big firecracker went off.
I must be naive. I thought biker gangs were a thing of the past. Guess the reason for high cap auto pistols and multiple magazines DOES exist.
Looking at some of the photos, some of those folks are sporting quite a bit of gray hair. They're not spring chickens. Guess they didn't grow up, just grew older.

I hope no innocent were harmed either, but going to biker hangouts is never a good plan. Hopefully a case of no humans involved

I think Texas Star is trying to make the distinction between riding clubs (fun, legal) and biker gangs who run drugs, prostitution and other illegal activity.
I have no problem with gang members of any vehicular persuasion (bike, car, Segue), race, religion, or even sex, being dead. If that is all that died, then good riddance.

Cops break up biker brawl in Texas. . . 9 dead bikers and no dead cops. I'm surprised this even made the media wires these days.

Just a question, but if one of us was in the restaurant when this happened and we fired back, what would be the outcome with it. We would be arrested I am sure but the cops wouldn't know if we were good or bad until questioned.

CNN Reports
100 weapons found -- how many are table knives and forks? We are talking about a CNN "news" report.

That would be the problem in that type of situation, a good guy with a gun could easily be mistaken for a threat and shot during the chaos.

This deal has just turned real serious. I just read a news account that said they were closing the Wal-Mart nearest to the incident.

Some times you have no choice but to find cover and stay there. No one knows you. The cops just see one large group not individuals, and you are in that group. The bikers will fire back at you.
First thing to do is use your head, think.

As the Waco PD spokesman pointed out, the fact that this started with alert, well armed LEOs were all over the place tells you what kind of people they were dealing with.
Incredible that none of the good guys or some little kid next door caught a bullet in all that.
Maybe they had a little help today:
Police Officers' Prayer to Archangel St. Michael
Dear Saint Michael ~
Your name means, "Who is Like a God",
and it indicates that You remained faithful
when others rebelled against God.
Help the police officers of our day who strive
to stem the rebellion and evil that are rampant on all sides.
Keep them faithful to their God
as well as to their country and their fellow human beings.
~ Amen.

One of the joints whose patrons were involved hosts (admittedly) 'biker nights.'
Hmmmmmm...

What's the best Biker Gang Gun?
If you were going to a Biker Gang Shootout, what type of handgun would you choose...a revolver or a semi-auto?
And what caliber/load would you use?
Should this be in a separate thread?

Typically its a very sad day to hear of so many deaths, but if the deceased are only biker thugs and not LEO or innocent civilians then good riddance.

From July 29-August 2 the Hell's Angels are going to have their annual convention in all places, Clarksville, VA! Could the same thing be about to happen where I live?

Good thing I didn't show up wearing my hat that says:
Harley Harely

Ride it out
And push it in.
Will make sure I have my vest on if I wear it again.

Twin Peaks would not be called a biker bar - I went there last week with companion and her son and DIL - actually seemed like a nice place - no bikers there that Sunday

I guess I see the world differently. I see people.
I've spent many years working with motorcycle clubs like this. Yeah, there are some despicable people in there, but not all of them. Many of them get caught up in the situation. Some are even born into the culture and don't know any other world. How will they know unless we tell them?
Let me tell you about Frank. Frank is a guy I met while at the Laughlin River Run one year. He was working in the booth next to ours. No need to go into all the details. Suffice it to say we had a good conversation and I was able to shed a little light into his otherwise dark world. Frank went on to be a leading member of his church. He is married with two girls, who have to be in their 20's now.
The booth that was next to ours? Yeah, it was a Hell's Angels booth. Frank (not his real name) was a chapter officer. I don't know what he did in the past and I don't care. He became a productive member of society; ultimately a good man. But, according to you guys, I should have just put a bullet in his brain to make the world a better place.
No, I don't see it like you do at all. I see real people.

Just because a group of criminals get together a couple of times a year and give teddy bears to crippled children doesn't make them good people. Biker gangs like we're talking about here are like (and associate with) Mexican Cartels which are loved in their home plazas, because they give money to the faithful...blood money.
None for me thanks, I got no time for them. I spent my time around them all.
I'm darned grateful the LEOs had good intel and were locked and loaded and ready to deal with them.

Bingo. The most important part about legally owning and carrying firearms for protection is tactics. Reading the play, knowing the numbers, and judging if it's time to pull it.
The only way I would ever pull my firearm in any situation is if my life or the life of my family is in imminent danger. I'm not the police, I'm not wearing body armor, I'm not wearing an official uniform, and it is not my job to engage in shootouts that don't involve me. The best thing to do in this particular situation is to take cover (read: not just concealment).

So that's one case out of.....?

No handgun....Air strike. A10 would be good, maybe even Puff.

These idiots have a beef with each other, not with joe average out with his family. So even if one of us normal people was out there having lunch I would be more concerned about a stray shot than some long haired biker dude that doesnt realize that its not 1970 anymore. If you have a CHL, get the hell outa there & run...
As a TX CHL holder I would duck & cover and/or track & field it out of there ASAP. If my life was in imminent danger ie. some guy actually trying to get to me with a weapon, then I would do what I would have to do to protect myself.
