Not looking for glory
There's a lot of us out there. The LEO's, EMT's, FF's, Coasties, Armed Forces and Sanitation workers. All endure an element of risk to either protect life, property or simply make the world a little better place.
Here's a guy I'm particularly proud to call one of the family. He grew up hunting Fla. with his father and decided to do something for the area he loved. He joined Fla. Forestry and over the years became a Fire Prevention Coordinator for one the counties. But, he remains a firefighter first and foremost.
As wildfire season down here winds down he still remains busy as this picture he posted indicates. The other is when my wife caught him at a local BASS doing his part to educate the masses. He can't fit the Smoky suit.

Buddy recently retired from Forestry service. Guess he couldn't sit still, now fighting a fire near OP as private contractor.

I'm about ready to retire from the fire department and its eating me up. It's time, but I don't want to.

Yes, it is pretty rural. What I'll really miss is the swift water rescue work. It's kept me in the game.

Thanks. I guess retire is not the right word since I'm not paid. Resigning is more correct, but I don't like the sound if it.
