Gun Manufactured wins big in Co. lawsuit case.
The parents of a victim in the CO. movie theater shooting sued the gunmaker who made the gun (or maybe just the ammunition) that creep used. They knew CO. law says that if you sue a gun company and lose, YOU pay their court costs. Well, they lost. Now those people have to pay the gun company $220,000. Losing their daughter was tragic and beyond sad. But so is exploiting that loss for money. I don't believe an innocent party should take the wrap for the decision made by this killer whose name I won't glorify by repeating here, and fairness trumps emotion.
EDIT: Here's the article: http://www.guns.com/2015/04/23/auror...unner-lawsuit/

The tragedy aside, I am pleased that law was upheld.

They were working for the Brady gungrabbers. Not as cut and dried as the article makes it sound.

Completely appalling legal advice. They should sue their lawyer (good luck with that )
So can I sue Ford or another car manufacturer next time I get hit by one?

Why not? That's certainly not the most ridiculous lawsuit I've heard of. (think hot coffee and McDonalds)

They are not paying for what the killer did.
They are paying for trying to capitalize on their daughter's tragic death by suing the gun company that had nothing to do with it. They got off lucky as they should have been counter sued for filing a frivolous law suit, and wasting the court’s and the company’s time and resources.
I have no sympathy for their financial loss whatsoever.
I am very sorry for the loss of their daughter, but that does not give them the right to go about suing manufacturers to try and get rich off the death of their daughter.

Anti-gun agenda and greed. This falls under the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (2005).
The attorney obviously didn't read it or didn't care..

Maybe things are looking better.....
A few years ago it seems that the people would have been awarded a settlement because they had the 'deep pockets' not because they were to blame in any way.
Also I don't think a new house and car would really make anybody feel better one iota.

Just an example of anti gun using some ones tragedy to further their own cause. No shame or scruples, just warped ideology.

If they want to dance in the blood, then they have to pay for the music. Maybe the anti-gun people will get tired of making sleazy lawyers rich.

It's a theory, but the core players in the gun grabber camp are sleazy lawyers getting rich

I have little doubt that had the verdict been different it would have been all over the headlines of the drive-by media.

And now will the Brady hacks help these people they exploited? No. They'll just move on and find the relatives of another victim who have dollar signs on their mind willing to profit from tragedy. These parents were victimized three times. Once by the killer, by their own greed, and by the exploitative actions of the Brady bunch eager to use them by capitalizing on that greed.

The craziest one I heard--late last week as a MOF--was sharoptons daughter twisted her ankle while stepping off a curb somewhere in NYC. The lawsuit is for five million dollars--strangley enough--just enough to pay off daddys back taxes owed.

This litigation was not driven by any sound idea of personal loss, wrongful death liability, etc. It was purely a political agenda from the hoplophobes.

About a week later there are videos of her mountain climbing. Doubt her suit will go too far IF that is presented as evidence and allowed in the trial jurisdiction!

And she somehow managed to go hiking up a mountain in Indonesia AFTER she twisted her ankle and then sued. And the dummy took selfies on the mountain that I think the city demand she not erase.

Who did she sue, Jimmy Choo or Manolo Blahnik?
(Ask your wife if you don't get it. )

Just an FYI, this is almost two months old and was widely reported in the Denver area. Unfortunately the rest of the news world seemed to ignore it-gee what a shock.

Ill almost bet the suits will start with the city--get tossed--then sue the maker of the concrete making the curb, get tossed--sue the maker of the materials making the asphalt---till they can get an actual victim.

I blame the money grubbing lawyers that probably talked the parents into suing, they will not have to pay the court costs.

No sympathy here. Mine left when the family chose to try to infringe upon my rights in a pathetic attempt to assign blame anywhere but where it belonged in order to reap financial benefit.
I hope the judgement cannot be set aside thru bankruptcy and that the defendants choose as aggressive collection efforts as the plaintiffs did persecution.

It's only a ridiculous or frivolous suit if you loose. If you win it i s obviously a meritorious suit from your point of view. Remember this-a jury of 12 laymen awarded the money and it was an appellate panel of judges who reduced the amount awarded. In my experience when the insurance companies complain of a frivolous suit is's because they got tagged big time!
That being said-I completely agree with the ruling in the instant case being discussed. People got some bad advice and I would think (hope!!) that there is an agreement that Brady will pay the fees.
