Default A question for those of you that deal on the for sale forum.

How do you usually figure shipping for a small item, and what is usually best to use (USPS, Fedex, UPS)?
I've got some grips I am thinking of putting up for sale, and want to price them shipping included, and don't want them lost or damaged.

For grips I usually use a US Postal Service Flat Rate box, size small. It's about the size of a VHS video tape; I suspect it was designed to for them.
You can go to USPS.com and print shipping labels, which include a tracking number. Cost is $5.25. Signature confirmation costs extra.
For grips I find the most secure way is to wrap each grip separately in bubble wrap, then wrap both the halves in more bubble wrap. I stick more bubble wrap in the ends of the box if needed, so nothing slides around.

For me, if the item will fit in a USPS flat rate box or sometimes in a flat rate envelope (with protective packing), that's the best way to handle shipping. IT goes priority mail and you get tracking information in the bargain. Since these boxes and envelopes are flat rate, you can find out up front the charges for each size and determine your shipping cost very easily. I also really like it when I buy and item that is shipped in this manner. It just provides some peace of mind to be able to track the package from both ends. Easy and simple and as secure a way to ship as any.

You can go to your local post office and pick up priority mail
flat rate boxes in small, medium and large. These come in
the standard square size boxes, and also the oblong boxes
for longer items. You can also go their website and order other
sizes to suit your needs, and they send them to you free of
charge. Priority mail comes with tracking info, and the insurance
is extra. It's a very good deal. I almost forgot, you can order
padded Tyvek envelopes from the PO website too.
