Default Texas Warming

I have also noticed that during the past three months the temps have been raising. It seems like we went directly from winter to the start of high summer, bypassing spring. Regarding Texas Warming, I am going to go way out on a limb and predict that by July, somewhere in Texas will be having triple digit daytime temperatures. In fact, such inhumanly high temps may be widespread across the state.

The one thing I dread about summer band. I think mosquitoes will be worse too.

All this rain has brought them out and they are big and vicious. Yesterday a swarm of them tried to carry off one of my dobies.

I thought MN had some bad mosquitos. Then I visited family in Williston, NDak. 5 shot high brass to stun them, then an ax to kill. Deep fry, serve with hot sauce. Hard bodies, big and mean. Didn't dare let the dog out after dark. This year, ticks are the problem so far.

Prayers for the people in the flood zones. Chilling pictures on the news and some scary flooding going on.

Really happy that I live in SW Utah. A lot of sun, very little rain and NO MOSQUITOES. On the bad side, we do have triple digit temps almost all summer. Still better than a winter of bone chilling cold and snow to clear from driveways and sidewalks.

We have mosquitoes down here that have the Iron Cross insignia on their wings. You can hear them coming before they're even in sight.

Speaking of weather...

While listening to local radio today, a national weather report came on as usual but this time they reported coastal ocean temps up north and south and specifically Texas. I don't remember ocean temps as part of a regular weather report. You guys?

Here, the skeeters are as big as Messerschmidts but have the stings of a Stuka.

Local Channel six weather gives the temps almost daily. I dont think the other two channels do though? I dont watch their weather--only channel three--till the weekend when their resident beauty is on. Channel ten however--has Sonya Hill--who is VERY easy on the eyes--has too short of a broadcast.

Anyway,I always pay attention to Gulf water temps--during the hot months.

The big skeeters are in Louisiana, in the bayou areas. I remember as a kid going through there on vacation with my folks, and a couple of them perched on the foot of my bed. One turned to the other and said "shall we eat him here, or take him down to the swamp?" The other one said "We better eat him here. If we take him down to the swamp, the big ones will take him away from us!"

...luckily, I woke up.

We were fogged in at Baptiste Collette one year long ago. Rather than risk running the Mississippi in the fog to try to get back to Venice we elected to spend the night in the boat (this was an open center console not an air conditioned sportfisherman) and then hit Breton Island at first light.
Big mistake!! Ever choked on mosquitos- PLURAL Ever smeared your face and all exposed body parts with black marsh mud which originated wayyyyy up north and was long ago deposited on the aluvial delta to keep the little buggers off of you? There were three of us and we ran out of beer around 9. The mosquitos left us alone around 2. I guess that's because of that great big THUNDERSTORM that rolled in.lasted about 30 minutes, washed off all the mud and then the ^&*% mosquitos came back!! At first light we made the decision to retreat to Venice clean up, pack up and go home. By the time we got home (New Orleans) it was around 3 in the afternoon. Took a nap and then got a call around 6 from another buddy "Hey-ya want to drive down to Grand Isle and do some night shrimping?" Heck yea!!! Let's go!!
I wasn't too smart back in my yout
