It's a wonder anyone still boats, what with all the accidents

Two of the happiest days of my life!

1) The day I bought my boat, and
2) The day I sold my boat!

I bought my 30 foot sailboat in 1985 and just sold it a couple years ago. It was a sad day and didn't get much for it either but time to move on in my older years now.
Also sold my Four Winds jet boat at a big loss a couple years ago too. I bought it right but had to put big money into engine repairs. I think I'll stick with little fishing boats now.

Now that is a well done ad! Many high resolution pictures and a thorough description. I see so many ads with 2 or 3 ****** cell phone pictures and a phone number. Craigslist lets you post up to 24 photos and you used them all. Well done!

I've had a couple of sailboats, one in Maine, and one in Key West. Lived on both of them.

A boat is a hole in the water that you try to fill with money. Sailing is standing in the shower tearing up hundred dollar bills.

I sold my 25' Mako when I left Fl. and it hurt. Really liked that boat.
Now I have an 18' tracker more suited to Va. waters.
Boats are addictive. Expensive, pain in the butt, but fun and I can't imagine not having one.

Boats are kind of like horses. Most people think horses are beautiful animals and like to ride them....but owning one and taking care of one is a big responsibility that is expensive and a lot of work. I'm a boat person. I love boats and enjoy cleaning them, but they don't have to be a big money pit if you know a little about them. My last boat was a 10 year old Four Winns ski boat with a V6 and I paid $4,500 and I owned it 7 years and put about a grand in it and sold the boat for $3,900. So, 1600 bucks for 7 years of fun is pretty cheap compared to a lot of other forms of entertainment.

In '88, back when I had money, I traded a friend 4 vintage Martin guitars for a 2 year old Ranger "V Twin" bass boat with an 80 hp Mercury, trolling motor, two fish finders, three batteries, live well, whale tail and deeluxe beer holders.

My brother had just gone through a vicious divorce. The judge, Penelope Cunningham (wife of radio and tv talk show referee Bill Cunningham) eviscerated my brother's finances.

I called him to ask him if he would help me pick it up as I had no trailer hitch. He said it was a vision of loveliness.

We hooked it up and then I tossed him the keys and said "It's all yours now get on with your life".

He has replaced the decking, the seats and the motor.

I owned that boat less than a day and it brought me 27 years of happiness.

AH Craiglist, we have a couple large fish tanks and just last week my wife put one of the large ones up on Craigslist. Wasn't a hour before she received a phone call from her neice that she wanted to come by and look it over. Ka-ching 20 minutes later my wife got the money she was asking for and the tank and stand were gone. One of the boating magazines had a "Free Boat" listing. All you had to do was come on down get it out of the water or ship yard load it up and be on your way. Some of those boats looked pretty nice and others weren't worth the price of a match and a gallon of gas. Frank

Looks like you got an almost perfect case of "Two-Foot Itis"
Its amazing how many people get their next boat and it is amazingly near two foot larger...a very common disease amongst local boaters. I started out with a 12' row boat, moved up to a 14.5, then a big jump to a 17' canoe which I kept for decades, next power boat was a 16', then an 18', got the boat of my dreams which was a 19', then went all the way back to a 13 footer...sold that one and now am in limbo with no desire for another boat. Although I did see a sweet little 14.5 Lowe on a trailer on the way home, comes with a 9.9 Honda.
