Need insurance for my firearms.
I hope this is the correct place to post this.
My collection of firearms has outgrown the provisions of my homeowners policy. I have run across an insurance company called Collectibles Insurance Co. They claim to insure everything from fire plugs to Zippo lighters. I talked with them yesterday. They sound almost too good to be true.
Does anyone have a history with this company? If so, have you ever filed a claim with them? How did they respond?
I am open to other suggestions. Anyone have a good source of firearm insurance? Thanks in advance.

Cant help you out regarding the insurance co that you speak of but I've always looked at firearm insurance kind-of like cell phone insurance...invest in a good safe (or a few), bolt to the floor and keep them locked up. Now I live in a nice neighborhood in central VA and I'd likely feel different if I lived on a flood plain in Southern Louisiana. I've always invested in good safes for my guns and solid cases for my cell phones as opposed to paying an insurance premium. Just my .02

I'd see if your agent could sell you a rider to go with your homeowners policy

My son, the insurance agent, told me to go third party. Riders attached are not your best bang for the buck, and if you ever have a claim, your homeowner's goes up. NRA is not a very sweet deal either. I'm looking at Core Vens and Eastern insurance. Both recommended on other gun forums I've come across. I have yet to pull the trigger. I will also look into Collectibles Insurance Co.

No room for a safe. Firearms currently stored in a nine rifle wood gun cabinet with six pull out drawers. Each drawer has at least five firearms stacked in it.
A rider to my home owners policy would be about $600 per year for $30K worth of firearms. Collectibles was $263 for the same amount. Collectibles does not require you provide them with a list of model numbers and serial numbers, unless something stolen or lost. Nice touch when you trade guns a lot like I do. If something is stolen and you make a claim, they will require you provide serial numbers and model numbers (photos if you have some) at that time. They have been in business for fifty years and have a A+ rating with the BBB. Again it all sounds too good to be true. Hoping to find someone with personal experience with the company.

I have been with Collectibles for 6 years or so. I am very happy with them.

I have had Core Vens (out of Iowa) for 10 years. Never had a claim. Just paid the premium this morning $384 for $100,000 coverage (smallest amount they will write). They have a website. They are underwritten by Travelers. I have no vested interested in this firm. You do not have to schedule unless a single gun is over $10,000. Also covers away from premises, etc. You must have a safe or central alarm. I have both.

It would probably be a good idea to maintain a computerized file of that info. You could back it up to a flash drive stored away from the house, or somewhere in the "cloud". At least have a copy on your cell phone. You could even periodically email it to yourself.
