Default Voles?

About 99% sure these are vole holes. I seen the little mouse like pest run down a hole. A got several areas where the holes are in a line every 6in maybe more.

I read that regular mice poisons with traps work but I was looking for something to dump down the holes to let em munch on. I found Sweeney's mole and gopher poison peanuts. Reckon that will work?

Our area is the vole capitol of the world, it seems. The only thing that really seems to keep 'em in check around our place are our three formerly feral cats, General A.P. Hill, General Stonewall Jackson, and Norman Bates.

If it wasn't for those three, I don't think all the poison in the world could control the voles we have around here.

Good luck in your quest!

Have you tried reasoning with them? It costs you nothing, and if it doesn't work, you still have your full range of remedies available.

That Sweeney stuff is good stuff! I use that on them and Chipmunks! Just pour it down their holes, and along straight runs where you see them go.
My problem is that my local Lowes isn't handling it anymore!
I sit out on my deck in the morning with a BB gun, a shovel and a cup of coffee, my morning hunting expedition,

I had a family of them last year and I shoved a hose down the hole and let the water run until they all ran out or drowned. Haven't seen any since.

I have a vole-free perimeter of about twenty feet from my house, courtesy of the Feline Enforcement Squad.

Only my vet knows the true cost of such an operation, but she did just buy a brand-new SUV...

Not if you have a swimming pool you don't, they can cause problems to pool liners. I've been pretty lucky so far.

We may have thousands of voles on the property...We have a LOT of them. Despite predation by the birds of prey, owls, Fox, coyote my dogs and the cats....we never seem to run out of them.

We ain't got any black snakes... we has rattlers so never mind the snake thing. The stray cat that took over ownership of the ranch does a REAL good job on the voles..kangaroo rats etc around here. What we have this year that is outta control is rabbits. Had a feller down the road just died from complications of tularemia.

For 11 out of the last fifteen years, Dawgs have had
good success controlling Vols.

Oh, you said voles, not vols.

I got rid of 90% of my moles by treating the lawn with stuff that kills grubs. Assuming that voles have the same taste for grubs I'd go that route. I don't like poison because something like a cat or dog can get a hold of the dead vole/mole/pest. I used gumball shaped poison on moles 40 years ago. I think it had arsenic in them.

Put some peanut butter on a mouse trap. Put the trap beside the hole, cover it and the hole with a small box like a shoebox. Works great! I've caught a bunch of them that way.

I've trapped them before, pesky critters. Take a mouse trap, drill a hole in it where the bar or trigger won't be affected, take a ten penny nail and push it through the hole and use it like a stake. Take a Pringles can (disposing of the pringles first) cut the bottom out and cut the can in half so it looks like a tunnel. Take some wire and make a loop over the can that looks like a croquet game stake to hold the can into the ground. Put the tunnel over the trap and put it in front of the hole or if you can see where there's a little trail put it on that trail. Voles will use the trail no matter what, don't even bother baiting it, you won't need it.

Like another said, get rid of the grub worms and the voles will go elsewhere looking for dinner.

My Great Pyrenees is great on moles/voles, it just takes awhile to fill all the holes back in...... but man is it fun watching her bounce and play trying to find the little devils

I spent the last 12 years at my jobsite working in building maintenance. This also meant tending to many acres of lawn at our park and ride lots. A couple of those lots were located adjacent to fallow ground that used to be agricultural but has been left vacant for decades. The voles moved into our nicely mowed lawns with a vengeance, ever now and then you could get lucky and stomp one of the little buggers while mowing when you flushed it out and into its little trail...they really don't like leaving their trails, partly because they have rather short legs and they keep the trails mowed down short. Someone wanted to poison them but one of the things I noticed was that wherever you have the voles you also have a local hawk working the area, wouldn't want to poison our hawk would you? We were left with living with them, we didn't have the manpower to check traps more than once or twice a week, they reproduce at a frenetic pace. They like taller grass with Southern exposure, keep that grass shorter if possible helps to discourage them.

We had a cat who hated them, he would nap by a hole until a head came out, and then it was curtains.

Milky spore.
Treat the area with it and it will devastate the grub population.
No grubs, no vole food ... no reason to stick around.

A couple....fifty...pounds of dynamite and a flamethrower should work. There may be some collateral damage in the form of a smoking crater where once was a lawn.

I was about 10 when the song came out. It was numero uno with all the mom's (as was Deano). You could ride your bike down the block and hear him on all the mom's radio's as you passed the houses and moms were in the kitchen ironing, cooking, scrubbing floors, or just generally working their butts off.
