What is the firearm accessory you just had to have?
In my case it was a Lyman No. 6 rear folding sight:

I bought a new Browning T-Bolt rifle a few months ago. I just had to buy a telescopic sight for it. I intend to use it for gopher eradication when I move to Nevada.

I like a rifle to have good iron and glass sights, sling (usually detachable) and provision for quick reloading. The older the design, the slower the reload. If you look at hunting photos from 1900 give or take 10 years, the ammo belts were close to what the military of their country was using, form following function. Post WWI every American that wanted a rifle, could easily have one. But they often didn't know how to accessorize them. As our rifles went from single shot to lever to bolt to semi auto/ black rifles, many just used the same equipment they were issued in the service, and other free countries did much of the same. Ivan

This hundred round case gauge, I make a lot of ammo and this saves me a lot of time. (as opposed to checking with a single hole gauge or the barrel)

Why do all those rounds look like they are standing proud of the surface? Is that gauge used differently than the individual ones?
I really want one of those, but I want to be sure I know how to use it. Thanks for showing it to us.

The bullet sticks out past the end so when it's lying on a flat surface the case heads sit proud of the gauge, you have to pick it up and the rounds drop the rest of the way.

Hmmm, I just watched a video and the gauge (9mm) he was using didn't have the rounds sticking out the other side. He was able to put the gauge right on the table and all his rounds sat flush to the top.
Now, with my check gauge, OAL is another function it serves. The rounds aren't supposed to stick out of the end of mine. I guess this doesn't check for that?

No, it doesn't check OAL. Be pretty hard to make a gauge that did that since there are so many variations on that. If I load a short hollow point, it will go all the way down, typically I load a RN to 1.165. If I wanted the rounds to plunk all the way down when I put them in, I could set the gauge on top of a 100 round ammo box (and some of my friends do that), but when I set it on the table, I can do a quick OAL check by looking at the case heads making sure they are all setting proud the same amount. They sell 2 different models, a standard and a "Supermatch". The super is at SAAMI minimum and I get about a 10% fail on that gauge. If I'm shooting a major match, I'll throw the "fails" into a practice box after running them through a standard gauge and inspecting the cases for damage. 99% of the "fails" work fine but the 1% that fail the second gauge get broken down and the components get reused (except for the brass). To speed things up, I put the gauge in a plastic pan and pour the rounds over the top, then fill in the ones that didn't go in nose down. Sorry for the long post, any more questions, ask away.

A good a spotting scope. I had a cheap Simmons scope and couldn't even see 30 cal holes at 100 yards so I threw it in my kids toy box and bought a Leupold Sequoia. I wasn't that happy with the Leupold either and sold it.

I live in NJ and can't carry a sling shot but for reasons I can't understand I keep buying a holsters for my guns. Mostly Safariand because I like that old school look with a thumb break for good retention, can't have it falling out when I am wearing it never. Bought one today on fleabay, new old stock Safariland for my 92FS for 10 bucks, how can you not buy it. They have more if anyone is in the market.

The term "ammo" comes to mind.
The last accessory I bought was a DeSantis Nemesis for a J-frame.
I like the Nemesis, but am considering trying a Mika pocket holster.

Funny, I can't think......
Funny, I can't think of anything I have that I'd call an 'accessory'. I'm so basic and cheap about everything I have enables me to reload and shoot. Not much extra in my shop, safe or range bag.
I suppose the closest I would get would be supplementing the 10 round mag for my 3rd Gen with a 15 round one. I GUESS that could be called an 'accessory'.
If I can think of anything else at all, I'll come back and add an edit.

Is it me or does anyone else happen to notice that the thing you want the most, have the highest hopes for always turns turns to liquid slop when you finally get it in your hands?????
Back around 1991 or 2 I had an M1A all tricked out. Krieger barrel, the works...no expense spared. I discovered somehow that the Leatherwood ART II scope existed at one time and at first concluded that it was no longer available. Then in the back of I think it was a "Shooters Bible" there was the address and phone number to MAC in Stephenville, Tx.
I called them and was surprised to hear that my scope was being shipped that day. Back in 1991, $650.00 was a lot of money to me. I was so happy, I next day aired it...good thing they didn't have same day air...I'd have done it, no matter the cost. I couldn't wait to get my hands on that scope.
Next day it arrived...i took off work and went home to try it out. It was so neat looking sitting on that M1A. Off to the range and in total bliss I go to zoom it on up and the reticle turns 90 degrees and wont come back. I go home and call the gal and she says, "send it back, we'll put a reticle in it for you." 8 months later after getting the Texas attorney general involved I had another one. This one was right. It was only then that I discovered what a total piece of junk this thing was...although the design is a novel idea, it wasn't really accurate. I guess it worked good enough for man sized targets. Biggest problem was the turrets...they didn't have any clicks at all. The adjuster just slid around in a rubber washer that held it in place. Little index marks were there that kind of added up to 1/2 minute of angle but because the adjusters had so much lash and no positive click stops you never really knew where it was or how much impact moved until you fired the rifle.
They are still sought after scopes and thank god I didn't have any trouble selling it, even after I told the buyer my issues with it. I am really not a picky guy...but I seriously cant remember the last time I paid dearly for something and was 100% totally satisfied. So, after 20 some odd years of getting myself sold on various items I "had to have" and enjoying almost total disappointment....I quit "having to have" something.
