Was my great grand dad Jesse James?!!! YOU be the judge.
This top picture is now taken pretty much for granted to be Jesse James. Now, here's a family picture below from my living room of my Irish great grand dad. Did Jesse live? Did he come back to California where his father died to live out his days? Is this why I like cowboy guns so much? Hey, Jesse like S&Ws, too, didn't he? Does Misouri outlaw blood flow through my veins? Should I go buy a Schofield now?!

Sorry, grampa parts his hair closer to the middle. Or maybe that was a disguise?
Here's my great-uncle Bill Standifer, Texas cowboy, sheriff and "enforcer." He only lost one gunfight... Looks like a band of brothers.

Nope, gramps ain't Jessie I dont believe. However, I would still get the Schofield and strongly entertain a move to Missouri.

If so we may be related. My great grand mother left Oklahoma and bought a nuge Missouri farm. She brought a steamer trunk full of money. Family lore ties it to Jesse. Lots of old timers saw the trunk wnen she paid tne help.
It usua, ly stafted arent you Milams grandson? Yes sir was my reply. Then the would tell me they worked for my grandpa and his mo and the trunk full of money. I asked if she was afraid of being robbed. They sad nope she carried a colt on her hip and kept ashotgun handy. They said she was the meznest person slive and folks were avraid of her. Probly wzs Franks woman. When a kid would missup uncles would say youd better straighten up or your gonna end up like uncle jessie.

In the family, there are old post Civil War photos of ansesters. Some are Irish/Scott, some are English, and some are German. They pretty much all dressed and looked like your (and everybody else') family photos! If you bought your clothes and went to a barber, That is what you looked like.

One question should sum it up for you. Ask yourself, Do I like to rob banks?

My maternal ancestors were Missouri pioneers, some who knew the James and Younger families, and through them a hideout S&W Model 2 Army revolver descended to me that was used by a Pinkerton detective to shoot and kill John Younger in a shootout, the first member of the James-Younger gang to be killed by law enforcement. My maternal Great Grandmother was Phoebe James a first cousin to Frank and Jesse. My maternal Great Grandfather was Edwin, ( if my memory serves me correctly) Ford, also related to them.
