Default Backing off on gun purchases; age related???

Satire.....???

Been noticing a real slack off of get up & go.......mostly got up & went!!!!! Decided to make this year a quiting one. Buying less is what I meant............

So with that in mind, I did a mental (hah!!!) search of the past 10 months purchases.

Not in order.....and I cant remember any in Jan/Feb......

Mauser K-98 (43 Sauer)
Rock Island M-1903
Japanese Murata military rifle, 8mm, late 1800s
Springfield M1903, Marine target version
Marlin 88, junker .22 (why???)
Walther PPk, 1935 commercial, best buy of the year!!!
S&W M-1888 First-Model-Safety .32, gold plated
Spanish muscle loader .45, rifle.....(Whaaaat???)
Muscle loading single shot pistol, .45 rifled & 20ga. shot barrels (again..whaaaat???)
Win. M-70, 270, late 1940's
S&W M-29-2, 6"
S&W M-17-2, 6" (having trouble placing this one)
S&W 18-3, 3"
S&W M-27-2, 6"
Ruger .44mag Blackhawk, 7.5, SS, NIB
MAC 11, 9mm, sub-machine gun
Taurus M-63. 22 auto rifle (copy of Win.)
Browning M-1908, .25 auto
Browning ATD .22, Gr 1, early version, wheel site
Browning ATD .22, Gr 1, later version, std site
Colt SS Python, 6"
Std. Prod. US M-1 carbine
Quality Hwd. US M-1 carbine
Winchester M-1 late carbine
Winchester Garand, 1943

Friday evening gun show & todays fleamkt. netted no guns.....!!!!

A quicky read over of this doesnt indicate much of a slowing down. Still 2plus months left in '015, & we have a table at the upcoming Nov. meet that supplies lotsa Lugers to look at...& I expect to get at least one M-57 there. All I can see that has happened is the guns I bought so far this year cost a whole lot less than the ones I bought last year.

So where does all this lead???...........no particular place....I apparently dont understand ".....backing off...."...just more cabin fever chatter I guess!!

NOPE,,,,you don't know the definition of backing off....nice list and good restraint on your part.........my idea of backing off would be buying a tyler-t-grip .....but we are different down here in florida.

If that is cutting back I think you're showing off.

What are you doing with cabin fever in early October?

I'd like to see your 18-3, 3". Do you have to pump iron to load your muscle loaders?

Default It seems to be a common feeling....

Obviously this isn't your problem but when you get a certain age, many have nothing to prove, been there done that and not as much into detail and maintenance as before along with the urge to 'downsize'. One thing, however, that I'm not downsizing is my gun hobby. In fact, it's growing. More CC guns for this boy.

Things I'd like to have for fun though would be a Luger and a Winchester 1894.

Dont take this "..tounge-in-cheek..." post too seriously!!!

"Early Oct. cabin fever........" is brought about by the feeling that I ought to be excited/enthusiastic about going out to shoot!!!! & doing so..... Didnt happen......I toyed with the idea yesterday afternoon (we carry a Garand/ammo in the farm truck) but ended up mowing part of a front pasture. On the way back to the shed, I noticed a utility pole gate post has rotted off just below the ground. Deepening depression associated with just the thought of the replacing job.

"Depression".......may also be associated with not having bought a gun during Friday nite & Sat. opportunities!!!!

Going now to try to fit nice Rosewood grips on a Python.....just a tad too long in the inletting.

I slowed down the past few years but part of the reason was having to retire on disability and having less money. I had really bought most of the guns I wanted and no need for me to buy just for the sake of buying. I did buy a couple more 1911s but not much more.
I was thinking about down sizing some too as my safe was full also. That's when my wife decided to divorce me and I had to sell off a bunch to pay her for the ones I kept. Once I land on my feet again I may want to get a few more again to replace some I did sell.
I still have plenty of conceal carry guns, home defense and hunting guns left. Sometimes you just have to be content with what you do have.

The last few I listed here, put me several over 500. We have a table at the Nov. show. I intend to shop for a S&W 57, maybe more than one & a 4" Python. & will, as always, shop the Lugers.

Thumbs up Rules for seniors.......

Wife keeps reminding me that it is possible to outlive money, so I mostly trade now just to get a few different toys to play with every now and then. Besides that leaves a little extra to buy more ammo. I have onset sometimers disease, not compatible with good reloading practices, I think. I value her advice, she's probably the reason I'm not dead or in prison now. Have a good evening.
