I gave birth to my eighth kidney stone of the year this morning. Think I'll start naming them instead of numbering them. This one shall be called lucifer.

It's a curse. I get them every other year. Year before last I had 13. That was the first year in a long time that I went to see a urologist. He thinks I should cut out protein. I think he wasted my time and money. I drink lemonade often, it helps with the "delivery."

That's the truth.

One particularly bad stone a few years ago, actually caused me to see things that weren't there.

It seems my brain couldn't reconcile the amount of pain in my midsection with anything but being gutshot. I looked down and saw blood on my hands and belly from the bullet wound.

The next time I looked, back to reality and no blood.

That was a good lesson in how sometime you really can't trust your own eyes - your mind sees what it EXPECTS to see.

Good luck, OP.

I'm not sure, the quack......I mean doctor said they were a result of protein in my diet. Said I should consider becoming vegetarian. Like that is gonna happen. When it first happened several years ago, the doctor said it was a result of being dehydrated and mineral deposits built up in my kidneys. That was after a trip to the ER from passing out in the heat. He said the stones would likely return for years after that. That was 15 years ago, looks like he was right.

I don't think you can make a living only producing 8 per year. You will have to do much better than 8 per year to make a decent living selling kidney stones. Maybe you should grow larger ones next time. I always think of the scene from the Deadwood series where the man is having a stone problem.

Default Stone pain?

Never had a kidney stone. Did get caught in my zipper one time Ouch!! Don't think beer has much to cause them, it just keeps flushing out, no time to settle. Ever hear Ben Colder,s "Fifteen Beers Ago"?

Personally, I believe in this, especially as prevention. For gallstones some people float some olive oil on it.

I've had 3. Lucifer is a good choice. Here are a few others:

Stoney

Mick Jagged

Rocky VIII

Let's hope no more appear.

Oh Yes... Lucifer good name. I named the 2nd after my ex-wife Nancy... the devils sister. A kinda funny story. When I was in the throws of severe pain..My wife the ER nurse... asked me if I was ready to go to the hospital. I was kinda laying over edge of the bed groaning. If you had a stone ever you do understand.. I told her if the Indians could endure the pain(before medication) I could. 10 minutes later she asked again..I said OH YEAH lets go..let me tell you...ER nurses have no compassion whatsoever. She actually laughed at me. Since then I have had one more and what the docs call loose gravel every now and again. Loose gravel sucks too. I wanted to collect my gravel and pan it out for gold
