Default Brilliant store layout

I went to Costco with my wife. We needed dog food and milk. Now, I've been around long enough to know that it was likely we'd be buying at least a couple other things. Holy shopping Batman! They really know what they're doing with that store layout. She wanted everything except what we came for and it took us two hours to get out.

Fortunately I survived, but I don't think I'm going back.

I can't shop with my wife. I'm the get in and get out (with a list) type. She ends up taking too long and doodles. I have literally left her in a store and came back (and she still wasn't done).

Shopping with my wife is like going on an expedition. I hit the books, videos, auto and sporting goods then walk around to find her and tell her I'll be in the front. I got banned by her from sam's and that fancy place near I-10 that sells all them goodies. Costco is putting up a huge store next town over so it will be only a matter of time before she bans me from Costco. Frank

Off topic. I used to skydive in Jeanerette back in the mid '80s. I bet there is still some of my DNA on the runway.

Costco has good lamb products. Their Columbian Supremo coffee is better priced than anywhere else I've ever seen.

I agree about Costco's layout but understanding that still love their business model and the way they take care of their employees. Careful shopping does indeed save money. We do a bi-monthly re-supply there as our closest store is an hour away. Never get out for under 200 bucks. Their store brand bourbon is tough to beat at the price point and the wife likes their reposado tequila. Great prices on coffee and the usually pricey cooking oils I like to use; coconut, avocado and EVOO. The Mrs. is a nut nut and has to have her almonds and cashews daily. Good nuts usually cost more than meat and Costco has the best prices I've found. Gotta run the gauntlet of impulse-buyer junk? Pssshht, no big deal.

Costco is no problem, I usually do the shopping and I go by myself.

Ikea, that's another story! There's only one reason I'm there, and that's to drop my wife off, and then I wait in the car for a call to pick her up. I have gone in, but just long enough to get a cinnamon roll and a cup of coffee.

As a general rule, women shop, men go to buy stuff.

IMHO, Costco is the best by far of the big box stores. I also think that their store managers are heads and shoulders above Sam's, Walmart, etc........Their return policy is insanely in the purchaser's favor. Sometime I skip formal lunch and just go graze thru Costco.......... :-)

I go to Costco to buy eyeglasses, I go to WalMart to buy engine oil and dog chews. So I go to Costco every year or so, and WalMart about the same. It's all I can stand, I'm afraid that whatever the other shoppers have might be contagious.

We have a 16 year old and a 12 year old who is 99th percentile for size. With their appetites we'd go broke if it wasn't for buying bulk food at wholesale prices at Costco.

Personally, I don't go "shopping" - I go BUYING. What shopping I do is done from the comfort of my recliner on my laptop. Then when I've found the best local deal, I go get what I need. None of this wandering around in stores for hours looking at everything and thinking about buying about half of it. Not for this guy...

Caj, Lafayette is where the new Costco is being built. Went by it when going to the gun show Sunday. Sorry about the next town thing. Frank
