Louisville gun show
Attended the National Gun Day show at Louisville this past weekend. A lot of guns for sale, but the dealers there are not very interested in moving them, especially when it comes to trading. Not likely to return there anytime soon and waste a whole day.

When I do a show I price my guns between wholesale and retail which I think is reasonable for that venue. IMO: If someone want's to pay retail they will go to a gun store to do so.

The "ole" gun shows around here are a joke also. (98% dealers of some sort.) 8-10 bucks to get in and look at spastic-plastic and "zombie guns". As long as one sucker comes along and pays their overhead, they feel like it was a good weekend. They will throw one or two "lost leaders" on the table just to get some footsteps towards the ones that are overpriced. No deals and no haggling. Just my two cents about NAZ GS. I know some dealer will come along and poo-poo on this thread, but WGAS!

It just seemed to be a "show" for the dealers to just lay their guns out and let patrons look at them. One fellow and I were $250 apart on a trade I wanted to make for one of his rifles. He would not give me what I was asking for my rifle and it is a nice one. I was willing to pay the difference between the two, but guess he thought he needed to make money on both ends. Just thanked him and said not today!

Gun Shows Have Changed!
The gun shows in my area have changed! It used to be you could pick up a good deal, once in a while. Now it's every year or two that you see a good deal. I loved it back in the day. When S&W's and old Colts where everywhere. Now it's yuppies and their Glocks and Sigs! And carrying AR uppers and lowers? Sorry, but I don't buy AR bits and pieces! If I buy an AR, I want a complete name brand gun. Not a Boar Head Hunter Brand! LOL
And nothing but new gun venders that DONT trade! And AR parts venders that sell AR parts along with Glock Accessories. And let's not forget the Tee Shirt and Jerky venders. And dont forget the QVC knife and the Chinese scope venders. And the lovely sound of a Taser crackle every 2-3 minutes!
I haven't bought a set of Smith grips in 3-4 years at a gun show. Used to be, I'd buy 1-2 sets at every show.
I know times change. But I miss the ole days when mom and pop venders had a table full of smiths and colts, along with 3-4 sets of grips and boxes of odd revolver parts.

Yeah, they're sure not like they used to be! It's called GREED. That's why no one wants to give as well as take. These dealers need to soften up a little and make some deals.

I had a couple of friends go down there and they said the same thing. Over priced.

Same thing here in NM. They want to give you pennies on the dollar if they are interested in what you have at all. And what they are offering is usually overpriced. I saw a "rare" .45 ACP Mountain Gun at a show recently marked at $1,400. He had other MG's too. Not one below $1,250.

I go but rarely go to buy. For me it's like going to a museum, a lot of stuff to look at, but don't expect to buy anything. Good entertainment for an afternoon.

A lot of nice guns to look at for sure, but not many that were priced to sell. I've been there 3 times now and each return trip gets worse as far as being able to deal with those guys. That will probably be my last trip
to that show. No sense wasting money on hotels, gasoline, and meals for nothing. Better spent here close to home.

Well here we go again. Sounds like Gun Shows are gettin to be the same all over. Only picked up a box of 8 MM and a pistol cleaning kit for a total of $29 bucks. I like milsurps but the mauser 98k mixmatcher I saw was $1500!! What I hate the most is the cheap fantasy knives made in China. Like I said before most is probably packed up and taken home on Sunday.
