Default Homemade concrete target stand for up to .44 mag.

My brother-in-law has a farm in Indiana where we can shoot our handguns. Last time there, it was a pain in the butt going back and forth hanging paper targets on wooden 2x4's that get shot to pieces in no time. I found this Birchwood, 3/8" thick steel, spinning target on Amazon, but the target mounts/sits really low to the ground at 16" to top edge of upper target. The steel target is rated for .44 magnum and has a 6" diameter lower target and a 4" diameter upper target.

I decided to pour a concrete base pad that has two 18" long sections of steel pipe that are cemented in. The target rods slide into the pipe, and that raises the target height to 35", instead of the original 16". Total cost for target and base materials was $50. The concrete base pad weighs in at 50 lbs and is almost 18" long, so it's not going to move/tip.

That's an alternative if you have solid ground and don't mind pulling them out each time to set for different distances. In my case, we are shooting from a fixed wooden deck and the ground is not that firm, so this concrete pad is more stable and can be placed on any type of surface. The target will be removed each time it's used.

Just an idea.

Dig 2 round holes in ground (post hole digger),

Insert schedule 80 PVC Pipe that metal target rods will fit in.

If need be, poor quick set concrete around the PVC.

Turn in your man card Frank. Why pound a couple of pipes into the ground when you can make a day long project involving pouring concrete. I certainly hope the poster remembered the re bar

Good......good....but not movable. Points though for combining PVC AND concrete. You loose points however for not using a power auger

In my defense Caj....My 100 and 200 yd target stands at home ARE pieces of square tubing, sunk in concrete, IN a post hole. So I'm a concrete, iron and dirt guy.
