beginners luck
my daughter called last night to see if I would let her new husband (married this past April) hunt this weekend
city boy out of Columbus Ohio, first ever hunt of any kind, first light the 10 point was bedded down 75yds in front of him in a open pasture.
he called me a little after daylight wanting to know if I would come help him
so I got up and went over to help him, he stated that this deer hunting was easy.
so I informed him that it was a nice deer but from now on any buck he harvested on the place had to have a bigger rack than this 10 point
I wonder how long it will take to get his second one?

Brother, that's just mean...
Your not supposed to put the newbies in the Hot Spots !!!!
There's alot of guys who will hunt for a Loooooonggggg
time who won't take one that nice.
Nice Buck !!!
I like those Tall racks. We see Deer like this here in Indiana.
Bet the kid was tickled. Have the "Talk" with him
and let him know how unusual this is.

he was tickled, I bet he has told he story of that buck waking up , and shaking the cobwebs out of its head 100 times since daylight yesterday
I did have the talk, we had it on the way to the processor yesterday.
we stopped at the local country store to get lunch after leaving the processor with the head and cape in route to the taxidermists
and there was a group of Florida hunters there who lease hunting rights from a neighbor who also told him
hunters at both the processor, taxidermist and store all were quick to congratulate him on his first deer.

That is a very nice deer and what luck for a new hunter.
My nephew on his first deer hunt got a shot with his bow but missed a nice 8 point. Next day he's sitting in same spot and same time and got him that time. He too thought deer hunting was easy.
The next year he found it not as easy as he thought as he went through the season without bagging another one.

Just a quick question:
Don't you field dress deer before hauling them out in those parts?

on this place we haul them out and down to a sinkhole that sits about 75 yards from the cabin
field dress them at the hole where we put all our deer waste, this gets the yotes to come out in rifle range thus helping to thin the yotes here in the hollow
