I called him up this morning and asked if it was still available; it was.

I'm in Cleveland. I asked if he could ship it to my FFL; he said no, he doesn't ship firearms any more. OK, fair enough, so I ask if he could hold it for me until I can drive to Toledo and pick it up. He tells me no, on account of it being the week of Black Friday, he's not holding anything for anybody. Not even if I paid for it over the phone, as he is not set up to take payments over the phone. Then he just hung up on me.

Pretty lousy service, and attitude, but I'm sure he'll have no problem moving that revolver.

Sounds like a scam setup to me, especially at the "come on" price.

They have a Facebook page and do business with Bud's. I think they're a real business, just not particularly well set up.

Your disappointment is obvious, but was he all that terrible?

He runs his business his way. If it was me, I would have tried to accommodate you, but that's me.

I've never had someone tell me that they can't take a payment over the phone, or had such a callous lack of interest in making a sale. It's not the worst I've ever been treated, but the forum exists for us to report our experiences, and this was pretty far down my list of personal highlights.

Sure, his business, his rules. Does that mean I'm supposed to be ok with any business owner running their business however they want? Including hanging up on me, and apparently not caring about anyone who isn't physically in his store with cash in hand? Why even have a phone?

I'm entitled to my opinion.

The take away here is two-fold: 1) this guy isn't much of a business operator, based on my experience. 2) there's a nice revolver in his shop if someone more local than me wants to do business with a guy like that.

Maybe he wasn't the owner..no authority? Or had some bad news come in just before you called. That is just a bad way to do business. You are only 90 minutes away.
