Default Nicest guy on the forum

I was making a deal with a friend today and he began to tell me about some grips he needed and how a member sent them to him free of charge just to do something nice for him. Then I thought about how many people had told me the same story and the forum member was always the same person. If I had to vote for the nicest guy on the forum , my vote would be Lee Barner. He is a very kind, thoughtful, generous, gentleman.

You could fill an Olympic size swimming pool with the "nice guys" on this forum.

You ain't kidding. I posted I was looking for an arched mainspring housing for a 1911 - Lee sent me one and refused all attempts at payment. A class act all the way.

Default The 'pay forward'....

The 'pay forward' idea is solidly based on this forum.

I have been a "victim" of his kindness and generosity numerous times.

I have also been fortunate enough to meet him in person.

There is none better than Lee Barner PERIOD.

I was participating in a 'did you ever drop your gun' thread and mentioned that my IWB holster had broken free from my belt on more than one occasion. Another thread participant saw the post and sent me a fantastic holster and wouldn't even take money for postage. That's one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. I was at my doctor's office last week and we were talking about his new (first) gun and how he has been shooting it and wanting his concealed permit. When I got home, I looked in my box of stuff and found a holster that I no longer have use of. I'll give it to him at my follow up appointment. Merry Christmas everyone.

Years ago I posted that I had just found and purchased a Victory Model - but with incorrect grips. Lee offered, and then sent me 2 pair for N/C. He said I had to clean up my favorite one, and then suggested I pass on the 2nd set to another needy soul - which I did. I'll never forget that spirit of generosity. ... and right now, I'm lifting my glass to toast him!

Gee, I thought I was special but that's how Lee treats folks.
A brief question I had over the phone turned into a chat between two talkers that seemed to me as if we known each other for a while.
Good guy.

Yup, as I've said before, be very careful of what you even MENTION IN PASSING to Lee that you even LIKE. Once you do, stand nowhere near your mailbox! More than likely you could be ran over by the mailman delivering said item the very next day. This has happened to me SEVERAL times.

Merry Christmas Lee!

Roger

I've known Lee Barner for some time. We've swapped guns, shared tables at gun shows and had meals together. He's a fine man and I'm proud to call him my friend.

No, not a sports stadium. They have metal detectors now and we would all be denied entry... (BTW, this really grinds me.)

I think one Lee on this forum already has. No wait, that was filled with "guys who think they're cute."

well guys, I finally opened this thread to see who it was about. I am humbled and honored. those of you who know me know I'm never at a loss for words. since joining this forum almost 11 years ago I have met many fine folks, both in person at gun shows and via PMs, emails and phone conversations. the member I met the longest time ago would be VT Shooter. he was a student of mine back in the mid 70s at Keesler AFB, MS. the next would be Fat Frank, now residing in S Australia but formerly of Offutt AFB, NE. he picked his screen name from a name I was considering for my gun shop when I retired from the AF in 1990. one of my thoughts was Fat Frank's Fine Firearms(my first name is actually Franklin). I have always been glad when I could help out a member who needed something I had laying around that the kids would sell for 50 cents at my estate sale down the road. thanks again for the kind words. lee

I'm happy to say that while Lee Barner may be the nicest person on this forum, he has a tremendous amount of competition in that category! Happy holidays to all!

Several years ago, I think it was at Tulsa, Lee gave me a beautiful aged piece of barn wood with my name and state on it. It occupies a place of honor on my table at each gun show. I cherish it and think of him each time I put it out.

Thanks again, Lee!
