Two thumbs up from me. enjoyed the whole thing. No Jar Jar Binks! I am glad this Lucas sold it to Disney. Good story in itself with lots of gritty action and questions to be answered in next movies.

Seven thumbs-up here.

The 3D was very well done, without any gratuitous shots of the actors thrusting things at the camera for effect. At times, I forgot I was watching a 3D film.

I just got back from seeing it. My one sentence review: An extremely capable passing of the torch.

An old story made new again.

Yuck! Not my thing!

The Force continues. Well worth the price of admission.

I can't wait to see it!!! I think this will be one movie I can persuade my hubby to see with me (it's been a LONG time). I think we will wait until after Christmas after the crowds die down a little. Thanks for the reviews; I'm more excited now!

Jar Jar was the anti Yoda. He was a manipulative master of the dark side of the force and a mastern of drunken style kung fu fighting. Seriously, do a search for it. He was in cahoots with Palpatine the whole time. Once you realize that, it all makes sense. It was even Jar Jar s speech that ushered in the Empire.

And Han and Chewie.... definitely a couple. Harrison Ford even described the relationship of Han and Chewie as "like an old married couple".

Once you realize that Han was just a narco terrorist drug smuggler, Leia was a naive Patty Hearst, and the Ewoks were flesh eating monsters, you wake up one day to realize that the Empire are actually the good guys.

I have seen it twice. The second time was due to a friend not being able to see it Friday evening. It was/is worth the price of a theater ticket. It was not a perfect movie. But it was very good. No violence for the sake of violence. No cussing. The only "love" scene you really have is Han and Leia hugging. There is not anything in the film I would not want my kid to see.
And as has already been mentioned, ignore the chatter on the internet about it. Almost all the people who were guessing at the story were wrong. Episodes 8, 9, and 10 should be worth it, as well if they keep up this standard.

I'll wait for the DVD. Still haven't seen the second trilogy...only the first three back in the 70's.

Whil Wheaton on the Big Bang Theory went to the premier of the new Star Wars dressed as Spock and commented that "I was in Star Trek, I'm just here to carry the torch" or something like that. But at the end of the episode, he said he was happy he had come to see the film.

The wife and I saw it last night in 3-D with Spanish subtitles. We did not go dressed as Vulcans. But we liked it. I recommend you go, Bob. As one Trek fan to another.

I haven't seen it yet but do have an innocent question. Was or was he not//Luke Skywalker// in the movie? I heard he wasn't from someone who said he saw it before it hit the theaters.

In Star Wars fiction, the Empire had a way of imposing order like Saddam Hussein that the Republic lacks, but unless I can be the Emperor, I will side with the Republic.

Obviously just rebel propaganda. Solemn nod. Always focusing on a few minor things like destroying Alderaan and glossing over all the surrendered Stormtroopers roasted alive by Ewoks and indecencies of man/Wookie life partnering amongst the rebel leadership.

My boys are very into Star Wars. We have avoided spoilers and we will see it over school Christmas break. The oldest quips "the only acceptable appearance of Jar-Jar will be as a skeleton in the desert"

I liked it. it has a plot, the special effects serve the plot, rather than having a bunch of pointless special effects with no plot like a lot of movies these days. It is definitely about the new characters, not the old ones.

J.J. Abrams directs the new cast with humor and originality while throwing plenty of bones to those who worshipped episodes IV,V, and VI.

The action is breathless at times, and the stormtroopers can actually AIM this go-round. The tale manages to touch on all the points required, without any of the heavy-handedness or convolunted space politics in eps. I,II, and III.

I look forward to seeing how the future unfolds for the newbies just as much as the old guard, and in that regard the movie can be called a success.

Cynics may cry that the newest installment is too coarse in its tribute to the originals, but I found the direction taken by the story satisfying.

There's one part reverent mythology, one part comic bookish space-opera, in what is a VERY worthy addition to the STAR WARS canon.

I am a big fan. it was OK for me. I have issues with it that are related to the use of the force.

I saw it Saturday afternoon in Imax 3-D. Overall I was impressed at the amount of attention Disney has given the story. The special effects were passable, if somewhat jerky. I was disappointed in several aspects of the overall production, Such as the chaotic pace of J.J. Abrams directing. Its like he jammed on the accelerator, and didn't let off. I left the theatre tired, and with a headache. Just too much was going on too, quickly to keep up with. The original casts performances' felt forced, and hokey. I'm not sure where Disney is taking the relationship between Rey and Fin, but it feels like it'll soon degenerate into just another interracial love story. Otherwise I was impressed with the character development.
Another aspect of the movie that baffled me, was how did the remnants of the empire, reform into a bigger, more powerful, First Order?
I'm glad that I was able to see it, However I'll not pay to see it again.

Oh, and for those of you that detested the prequel trilogy "like me", I highly recommend The Clone Wars animated series. It doesn't make the first three watchable, but it goes in all the right directions. The characters are presented more as I'd imagined them, while providing an more detailed account of Anikin's decent to the dark side.

The movie was great. The actor who played FINN, I could have done without. JJ should have chosen someone else to play his part.

I've never seen any of them.

...But was just wondering who they got to play Dr. Spock in this new one?

I saw it today . . . I'm thinking the whole "Death Star" thing is a bit long in the tooth. Otherwise, I thought it was pretty good.

Just went tonight. Blah. Sort of like the most recent Bond movie (can't even remember the name); incoherent and left me squirming in the seat until I could go home.

Think I'll go see if "White Christmas" is on Amazon Prime. Time to go see foxy Vera Ellen one more time.

Palpatine was actually the weak link in the Imperial hierarchy. He was more of a figurehead. Jar Jar, his co conspirator, was the organizational and political genius behind the scenes. With Palpatine gone, Jar Jar had free reign and quickly turned the seemingly leaderless Empire around.

The more I think about this the more it makes perfect sense. And I agree with you on your take on those little flesh eating Ewoks. I've often wondered what you would get crossing a wookie with an ewok.........
