Very cool find at LGS !!!
A couple of weeks ago went down to my LGS as
i was in the market for a new scope.
I walked in the front door said my familiar hello
to Jason who is the co-owner and generally the first
guy you run into. He said How are you and we exchanged
a little chit chat. Looking around the shop amongst
the pallets of case ammo they sell was a sign reading:
Colt 1877 Gatling Gun
For Sale $59.999.00
I asked him was it a joke and he said most certainly
NOT. It was in a crate in his back room.
Said he had been a lifelong Colt collector and it has
been a dream gun of his to own if even for a short
time. I was astonished. But i saw it.
Darn Shame i always walk into a gun shop about
58,000 dollars too short.
Chuck

And I'd be $59,900 short on being available to buy one.
and let's don't forget tax.... Oh boy.
And... We need pics, next time you go in.
I'll never see that in my part of our state.

I ran into a Gatling gun that was on display in a curio shop in SE Alaska. I was spending the summer on a salmon seiner and dropped by and talked to the gal who was running the place several times. It was her fathers, who had several he had restored. After some conversation she allowed me inspect and handle it a bit. Very interesting guns. I also remember seeing a model one at a gun show that supposed to be able to fire 22lr.

I once saw a wooden gatling gun that shot rubber bands. I couldn't afford that one either.

Walked in my LGS the other day and they had a 50 BMG on the counter for sale.
Thought about it, but a little difficult to hide that one from the wife

And at one time you could buy a Gatling for almost nothing when the Army dumped their inventory before WWI. There was one on display at the YO ranch near Kerrville TX, also one at the Frasier Museum in Louisville. I don't know if they are still there.

Somebody makes a legal gatling gun style adapter for putting two 10/22s together. I saw it on YouTube or somewhere. Looked pretty lame.

Colt, in cooperation with U. S. Armament, offers a new production reproduction of the 1877 Bulldog Gatling Gun in .45-70 caliber.
The current selling price is listed at $56K.
The gun is apparently marketed under the Colt brand, even though it isn't specifically made by Colt.
If I remember correctly, it used to be available through the Colt website.
Just imagine what a hoot it'd be to actully shoot one of them! Bet it'd be even more fun if you used black powder loads.

There used to be one at the Cody museum in Cody WY. Probably still on display. They had about 20 Buffalo rifles there also. Seems they were 50 cal with some very long barrels. Not sure who made them, maybe Sharps.

There were two of them at the Cody last summer. I made a side trip after the USPSA Area 1 championship match. Very interesting place.

No special license is required to own one of these, is that correct?
My understanding is that it is not an automatic since you have to turn the crank to fire it.

Absolutely, no tax stamp. Fires only as fast as you crank.

It may not be a Colt 1877. But for a poor man, its fun to throw .308 down range in a different style.
