Default X Files, V2.2

Sundays episode was pretty good. Mulder looks the same Scully a little aged, Other characters were back (no spoiler)

Tonight's (Monday), was nothing really special. I hope it gets better.

The first episode was only OK. Skulls and Mulder both seemed a little rusty. Maybe they will get back into the groove before they lose most of their potential audience. Critics are saying wait until episode 3.
I didn't realize how small Skully was next to Mulder. No wonder they never filmed them standing side by side in the original series. It looked lopsided.

I caught #2...it was okay. I only watched the original series sporadically though. Scully still looks pretty good.

X- Files was my favorite show when it first came out, got a little crummy towards the end though. I have the movies and I was somewhat happy with them.
Of course I was looking forward to their return and missed Sunday night premier episode due to the snow storm, I completely forgot about it but I did see last nights episode and enjoyed it! Reminded me of when it first came on and I hope they keep it going that way!

Seemed like Parts 1 and 2 were separate and independent plots. I wonder if the last 4 parts will also be as free-standing?

We recorded the first episode and it started nearly 30 mins late because of the post football game interviews. We only got to watch the first 30 mins and the episode didn't repeat. I should have said my husband only got to watch the first 30 mins because 10 mins into it I fell asleep!!! I just couldn't keep my eyes open no matter how hard I tried. Maybe someone can PM me with what happened in the last 30 mins?

The first episode, & I believe the last (6th) are X-Files mythology based. The ones in between are stand alone episodes, though I agree #2 was semi-related to #1.

My son laughed that they didn't redo or modernize the intro. It's exactly the same as the old series.

I had forgotten how much shorter Scully was too but having (now) made it half way thru Season #6 on Netflix, there are plenty of shots in them that their difference in height is apparent.

I hadn't seem Scully in any of her new series & when my son showed me a picture of her, a couple months ago, I was surprised in her facial changes. Cable channel "Chill" had a 48 hr. X-Files marathon & I caught the X-Files "Pilot" episode right after having watched the 2008 X-Files movie on another channel. She's definitely changed, but still looks pretty good. Why was her voice scratchy in the second show?

I hope at least some of the remaining shows can match the many really good ones I just saw in Season #5 & #6. (Many written/co-written by Vince Gilligan, who didn't come back in 2016. )

Scully is definitely showing her age in her face. But then, so are we all. I never found her particularly attractive (mainly because of something about her mouth), but even less so now.

If you look at some other pics of her, she is OK
She is only 47, maybe some of it is makeup for the show??

I agree. I felt the transition between one and two was not done very well. Suddenly they are both right back in the thick of the FBI?

I don't know but I thought Mulder looked a lot more aged than Scully did. He's gained weight too. It was like seeing Han Solo in the newest Star Wars film.

I was an X-Files fan and the two pilot episodes this week were pretty good. Not the greatest episodes I have seen but still good. They are moving at a much faster pace than the original show ever did and with the advent of technology we are finally able to actually see more of the aliens and ufo stuff that was mostly hinted at in the past. If there was one thing that bothered me it was the obvious right-wing bashing that went on in the first episode. They showed a clip of Pres. Obama in an interview that was showing him laughing but then when it came to the conspiracy parts they showed two clips of Pres. George W. Bush. I did not like the mean jokes the writers put in against Bill O'Reilly and then the character that was obviously made to look like an Alex Jones look-a-like.

I'm just happy to watch something that isn't a reality show. X Files is never real, but challenging and entertaining (well, parts of Season 8 and 9...not so much.) Can't wait to see CSM come back

Last nights episode was pure garbage. Nowhere near as good as any of the originals.

I think it was an episode for the hard core fans. They have done silly episodes like that in the past, this was just one of those. I actually saw the episode as a dig at humanity and what's become of the masses

Man changes into a lizard........................
Give me a break. That is the best that they can come up with !!!

This show is going down the tubes big time if they don't
pick up the pace and monster out fits.
Zippers all over the place..................

The Muppets have better out fits !!

It was ment to be a funny episode. Mulder's cell phone rings the X files theme song, the grave he was leaning against had the name of a X files producer who had died.......kinda like in memoriam. Then the whole thing about the lizard man turning human and instantly having a desire to have a job, pay a mortgage, eat other animals, wear clothes, watch porn...etc...etc. And in the end it was actually a human who was the bad guy. It was a spoof

Default X Files

The new X Files are not as good as the old series. I thought the last episode was ridiculous and pure trash. In the preview of next week's episode, it looks like it is just as bad as the last one. I do not think it will make it and most fans are not likely to view the remaining episodes. Just my two cents worth on the topic.

I agree - the last X-files episode was idiotic and embarrassingly poor. It was really about a lizard transforming into a man, not vice-versa. I could have written a better script. On the other hand, I am becoming interested in "Lucifer" on FX. It may have legs.

I thought the last show was funny. I was surprised they did it since there are only six shows.

Episode 3 was stupid. Guess they were trying comedy.

Worthless!!

Lucifer, the Detective on the show was on 5-O for a while. Worth watching for her,

I thoroughly enjoyed the spoof episode on Monday night.

Chris Carter's still got "it".

Missed the Sunday first one but caught the next. Pretty good. Wife says she thinks Mulder's had some facial tucks. Tight chin, saggy neck she says.

Sly satire of series tropes isn't for everyone; episode three was a brilliant in-joke, a playful inversion of their standard (and usually derided) "monster-of-the-week" episodes, that also nicely depicted the restoration of Mulder's passion for the job due to a most improbable case.

Different strokes for different folks, sure, but I'd wager this episode may have moved a little too fast for some viewers. Written, by the way, by the same guy who wrote the Clyde Bruckman episode -- easily one the of the best X-Files ever, a claim I'd argue applies to this week's episode, too.

A brilliant in-joke it may have been, but if so, I didn't get the joke.

Latest one was reminiscent of the old "Night Stalker" shows with Darren McGavin.

Oh yeah I recall Night Stalker series with McGavin. Around 1974 I think. Did not run long but at least he was funny.

The original 1972 "Night Stalker" made-for-TV movie was very good. The follow-up series not so much, but some episodes were worthwhile. I think Netflix has all of the series episodes, and they are worth a watch. Best if you have seen the movie first.

Darin McGavin was in two episodes of the original X-Files. Just saw him in Season 6-13, Aqua Mala episode. He was also in Travelers, season 5-15 episode.

My brother in law is a big X-Files fan and I had not watched any of the first series episodes. He convinced me to watch the last episode of the original series, which I did. My comment to him was that I was sure glad I didn't waste my time watching any of the other episode which had aired!

That was just (1) of (205) episodes.

Kind of hard to hit a home run every time at bat.

Default They're going to have to.....

They're going to have to work hard to beat.....

Squeeze/Tooms, they guy that can come out of drainpipes.
"Humbug' about the side show killer that lived inside his brother
"Darkness Falls", bugs come out at night and eat people.
The inbred perverts in 'Home'.
'Ice' Bad things happen at an Arctic station.
"Beyond the Sea'. A convict tell Scully about her father.

And a whole buncha great episodes.

I thought the best was the "OSU" episode. Character could force anyone to do anything by mind control. About as good as Tooms. There may have been several with those characters, I don't remember.

At least the "lizard man" will be hibernating for another 10,000 years before he re-emerges. Even that will be too soon for me!

I had recorded the latest episode and didn't watch it until last night. So I avoided this thread until now.
No it wasn't the best show in X-files history. But it was a unique and amusing twist on the old were-wolf legend. I give the writers an A+ for creativity. I liked it.

I liked it but if they used a real city with real suburbs names they could have just used real location names as well.

1) there is no S. Walnut st. There is a Walnut st in Center City.

2)the "Drug Bazaar" is in Kensington section of N. Philadelphia.

3) there is a Pennsbury School located in Bucks County, a northern suburb of Philadelphia. I work only a few miles from that school, in the same township.

Here's the problem. If we assume S. Walnut and the real Walnut st are the same thing. No one would be relocating homeless people to Pennsbury. First that's like a 50 mile difference. Pennsbury is almost in NJ. Second, Pennsbury high school is in Fairless Hills Pa. While it's a mixed township it's still predominantly rich and it borders townships where houses have their own zip codes. The other problem is that Walnut st is in the heart of the city. You're not gonna find too many homeless people there either. It's expensive to live there and not a place that needs gentrification

No one is moving homeless people 50 miles to rich suburbs

It's been a disappointing waste of time for me, but I have watched all episodes so far. Maybe redemption is in store for tonight's final episode.
