The process of buying things has really changed
I just got hit on the side of the head with the realization that the process of buying things has really changed.
Friday afternoon I hopped on to Amazon.com and ordered a $35 firearm accessory. I was using a family member's computer and hit the one click checkout button. It asked me if I wanted to use credit card ending in XXXX and I said yes.
Sunday at noon the item arrived via USPS Sunday delivery for no extra charge.
Wow. Things sure have changed.
(P.S., told the family member it would be a very good idea to change the profile to not use one click check out and to unsave the credit card number)

Amazon is that little demon that sits on your left shoulder and whispers in your ear: "Go ahead, you know you want it." "One click" and you've bought another something you really don't need. I did it recently with a Buck knife. Joe

Amazon is that little helper that keeps me from driving 15+ miles to buy some things that can all settle into a box and arrive one my doorstep in 2-3 days... Unless they get sent to the purgatory of USPS smart delivery, which generally adds at least two days and some detours. <grrrrr>
And every once in a while, whispers " you're gonna buy that, right?"

Yes.
USPS will deliver packages on a Sunday.
Not sure why they do it or how much they charge the sender.
I wonder if the carriers get time and a half.
I hope people who would not want to work on a Sunday are not coerced.

We have USPS delivering on Sundays all the time - last week we got an Amazon Sunday delivery around 7AM. After the recent blizzard (24" snow) our USPS driver trudged though the snow to place an Amazon box on our porch - I apologized to him that I didn't have a clear path yet - he waved it off - I think that USPS are trying harder to be competitive - and doing pretty well.

Ebay makes it too easy and convenient to buy things.
In the old days we had Sears Roebuck.
I remember the excitement when we got the new Sears catalog.
You had to take turns looking at it, carefully checking your favorite sections, based on your age and interest at the time.
Do I like eBay? You bet I do.
I use it all the time.

Yup--Amazon is a separate budget category all its own for me. Prime works well for me. I mostly buy books, but also movies and miscellaneous. They are often worth checking for gun stuff on the off chance.
However I loathe "sure post" or whatever it is because I have both a PO box and a street address.
