"Walking Dead" set in GA (then maybe outside DC)
Rick wakes up after the Zombies are Rampant
Fear the Walking Dead takes place in L.A.
shows the very beginning & progression of the Zombie Outbreak
what type of events went on while Rick was in his Coma

Shoot Zombie in head or remove head and zombie dies.
Same story, different place.

Fear TWD is starting to pick up. It was a 6 episode first season and they wanted to show the progression of the first moments from what we would call normal to the outbreak being full blown.
The first 4 episodes were character building along with the realization that some weird **** was going down. The last two episodes ramped up the action to where everyone knows whats going on and the government still has a little "control."
To put it in a timeline perspective with Rick Grimes and the rest of the gang, Rick is still in the coma, and most likely alone in the hospital, or being abandoned.

Don't cross a Salvadoran barber in L.A., they are even more dangerous than a redneck with a crossbow in Georgia.

The advantage with Fear versus a completely different zombie series is it is familiar. The progression of the outbreak is just getting under way and we really did not see the gov response since Rick wakes up after it has all pretty much fallen apart.
I actually wish there would have been more time spent on the government efforts to determine what is going on and how to respond but others would be bored with that.
I personally like both. Yes, the original I like better because we are now in season 6. But I do hope Fear will progress just to see the same kind of world and folks dealing with it in their own unique way. Out west. Without spoiling anything, you as a watcher of the original know more than the folks in Fear. How it works, who is infected etc. Although they did pick up on the head shot fast enough...

I like this new Season of the walking dead so far but I'll have to see how it goes.
As for Fear the Walking Dead all I want to see is that over protective witch of a Mother slowly eaten by toothless Zombies.
Actually I prefer Z Nation over both of Them.

I guess it's like....
....it's like having several versions of NCIS going on at the same time.
