The mags he may have a problem with. Maybe some AR parts ....although they are just parts. But ammo? There has never been a law on ammo amount and there is no law on "stock piling"

There is something that George Carlin once said about America and it's turning true.

"According to the New York Post, Shou lives in a one bedroom apartment in Queens. While doing the review for pistol license holders, police found “14 licensed handguns; two loaded, licensed shotguns; one licensed rifle.” They also discovered “approximately 45,000 rounds of ammunition for a variety of weapons; 225 pounds of smokeless gun powder stored in various containers and open to view; unassembled parts for an AR-10 and AR-15 assault rifles, three high-capacity magazines — one fully loaded with 20 rounds and each capable of holding in excess of ten rounds of .308 caliber ammunition — two Kevlar body armor vests, six Kevlar armor plates, one ammunition press, numerous primers, empty cartridges, and several other devices and components related to weapons ammunition.”"

Seems that the only thing he did wrong was to possess the magazines and the body armor...

Apparently they do NOT have classes on the Constitution during the Police Academy in New York. We did in Texas.

In my opinion you have to be more than a little insane to live in NYC. I am not joking, I really believe you have to be mentally unbalanced to live like that.

This whole thing is outright Orwellian. But the most disturbing part of the article is this part: " While doing the review for pistol license holders, police found “14 licensed handguns; two loaded, licensed shotguns; one licensed rifle.”

So basically the police were doing searches of people's homes who were registered gun owners. Anyone who had too much ammo becomes and enemy of the state.

And people wonder why we resist so-called 'Universal Backround Checks', and 'gun registries'. It basically gives the government a list of people whose rights need to be violated.

What a disgrace this is to America.

The mags & body armor are an issue; don't know if the People's Republic allows unsecured loaded shotguns, or the AR parts. The rest is just another attempt to demonize lawful ownership.
While we should reserve judgment on Mr Shou, this is shameless fear-mongering by politically-motivated prosecutors and government run amok.

Looks like NYC is in a contest with the west coast to see who can come up with the goofiest gun and gun related laws.

NYC gives us real New Yorkers a bad name.

The Rotten Apple needs to either:
A) Fall off into the ocean, or
B) Be absorbed into New Jersey (sorry NJ, but all is fair in love and war), or
C) Become the 51st state.

Either one would immediately solve many of the state's problems.

Does anyone think it's safe to store 225lbs of powder in a one-bedroom apt.?

I don't reload, so that's a serious question.

Having lived in New York City for a total of five (5) years and NOT mentally unbalanced nor insane, your statement is patently untrue.

Be safe.

My best friend from college works for Micro$oft and was briefly assigned there. It was so expensive that he couldn't afford to move his wife there from Delaware. Any apartment they could afford would have been a slum. As it was, the place where he lived was a pit.

He hated every minute of it and couldn't wait to get out.

I've got a list of "never move to" places and NYC is right at the top, followed immediately by the rest of New York. California and the like fall in behind them.

I do reload. I haven't weighed my powder. I don't store my reloading supplies in the oven.

If you reload and you don't stock up these days, you're not too bright... or you're independently wealthy.

I don't know about "insane", but you certainly have to have values as alien to me as those of the average member of the North Korean Workers Party.

I don't ever plan on living in NYC.

I have traveled to NYC for a vacation and had great fun, the people I mwet on the street were quite friendly and nice.

After 911 I gained a whole new appreciation for the fine folks of NYC.

The long and short of it is that the magazines are illegal in NY. Anything over 10 rounds isn't allowed here now. The body armor is allowed, as long as he isn't a felon ( but with the magazines he now becomes one ). And I believe that the safe act has provisions for securing firearms. So he is in violation there for having them unsecured. The rest is just ****, meant to make the uneducated feel that the police and state are keeping them safe.

As a person that lives in Northern NY I would gladly see that place become the 51 state.

You will note I make it a point to say Northern NY, heck I live closer to Canada than NYC.

As a 51st state, guess which side of the aisle their senators would sit on. Not a good idea. How about a territory?

Las Cruces has a population of 85K. We have 4 dedicated gun stores, 3 Wallmarks that sell ammo and long guns, and 3 sports stores that also sell ammo and long guns. They are currently building a new Sportsmanship Warehouse......We have thousands of acres of green chilies. I love this little town. nYC? I don't think so.

I have a real love-hate relationship with the state of New York...

New York City is a great place to visit, very vibrant and bustling, with tremendous tourist attractions and great eateries.

I have many friends in the various Long Island communities, and they too are great places to visit.

Upstate New York is breathtakingly beautiful, especially the areas in and around the Catskill Mountains and the Finger Lakes, and the Hudson Valley is gorgeous.

But...

The state's political climate, which is dictated by New York City, is not to my liking at all; taxes are sky-high; and gun laws are simply ridiculous.

New York is a nice place to visit, but I could never live there...

Default MORE NYC BASHING

Much by people who have never been there. ALL places have good & bad. Does your nearest city consistently rank in the top few cities of the world? Sure gun laws there stink. If your world consists of guns and nothing else, then yes NYC would not be a good place for you. There are MANY more things in life than guns. Assuming the entire state is like NYC is plain ignorant, to put it mildly. Would I want to live in NYC year round? NO. Would I like a good apartment/condo in a nice area of Manhattan or Brooklyn to vacation a few weeks at a time throughout the year? , you bet. Do you always believe EVERYTHING reported by the media or online?
IMO there is much more truth/facts to the story that we aren't hearing. It sounds like a very illegal search to me.

I've been to New York City, to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Do I need to LIVE there to see it? No. If I DID, would I? NO.

There are more things to life than freedom of speech and the other things guaranteed in our Constitution. There's a lot of natural beauty in North Korea. Would I let the lack of freedom there stand in my way of living there to see it? YES.

Repressive gun controls are just ONE symptom of what's going on in New York City. I don't need the government telling me how much soda to drink, what to eat, or much else for that matter.

It sounds like he had an adequate supply of ammo, but was seriously short on firearms.

Could or would I live in New York city? No, besides I couldn't pee off my porch and where would I park my tractors?

IMO there is much more truth/facts to the story that we aren't hearing. It sounds like a very illegal search to me.
It's not just the gun laws, but the entire city itself. Time Square looks like something out of 1984. It's basically martial law. I have no desire to go to place that disregards the Constitution like it's a piece of toilet paper.

Unfortunately, a lot of New Yorkers and citizens of North Jersey move to PA and bring their values with them. On the Pennsylvania online firearm forums, there are countless stories of people who live in NE Pennsylvania who have to deal with these transplants. They make negative comments and call the cops on people for open carrying on their own property. They follow around law abiding open carriers like ninjas in food stores while on the phone with 911 or while trying to flag down store managers. They talk about how Pennsylvanians are "rednecks" while they move to our state due to lower taxes and cost of living.

My former company was headquartered out of New York City. All of my bosses worked in New York City and either lived in NYC or in North Jersey. They were a pain in the butt to deal with, always talked down to me, and (specifically my superiors) lacked common sense. They always thought I was crazy when I told them where I would be going for vacation (national or state parks), what my idea of a dream house was (lots of acres in a quiet, country town), and how I enjoyed collecting and shooting firearms. I cannot express how happy I am I left that company. I still have a friend who works for the company, and apparently a lot of my former bosses were canned by their bosses because my bosses had no idea what they were doing (which I realized quickly once I started that job). I won't drag this out much more, but I am very happy at my new job, I work with great people, and my new boss is very easy to work for. I'll end that rant.

My point is I have no desire to ever live or go to New York City or the metropolitan area. Not only do their gun laws suck, but they apparently disregard a lot of the Constitution. I strongly dislike the New York City mindset (Residents thinking they are superior to everyone else), but I will acknowledge I know there are New Yorkers out there who aren't too bad. Also my opinion is based on New York City and the metropolitan area. I can't speak about New Yorkers who live outside the metropolitan area because I can't recall any interactions I ever had with them.

My world consists of more than guns, to be sure, but most of what is in my gun safe would be illegal under New York law...not New York City, but New York STATE. Why should I, a law-abiding citizen, have to sell my firearms in order to live in New York? And it was the Governor himself who said, just a year or so ago, that people like me were not welcome in his state. I take him at his word...

The same people who promote the repressive gun laws of NYC and NYS, also rant against the "fetishizing" of the 1st Amendment and freedom of speech.

It's a package deal. You can't kill the 2nd Amendment without killing the 1st Amendment rights of people to support it. You can't kill the 1st Amendment without killing the 2nd Amendment rights of people to protect their freedom of speech from extra-legal and extra-constitutional terrorism used to silence them.

The Klan and the Nazis supported gun control for a reason.

I visited NYC for a few days a number if years ago. The thing I remember is how overcrowded it was. You couldn't go anyplace that wasn't wall to wall with people.

It was summer, so it was hot and muggy. The tall buildings blocked all the wind, so the air was stagnant. Everything was dirty and covered in soot. It felt like I was living in my garage with the car running. Definitely not the place I would want to live.

Unfortunately the opportunities are in the big cities.

Call me crazy but I actually like NYC ....as the city goes. I like "busy" ...the sounds, smells, lights. I could never live there due to their laws and cost of living but as far as the city goes I like it. I couldn't do country living

Like Chiraq, NYC has beautiful architecture... spoiled by the inhabitants. The episodes of "Life After People" set in them were like a wonderful fairytale...

I couldn't live in the country either, at least too far into the country, since I can't [happily] live anywhere where there are no bookstores. I lived in Fremont, Ohio for a few years and it was EXCRUCIATING. And don't waste your breath talking about Amazon.

The arms and armor collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is [rather ironically] first rate. It makes the Chicago Art Institute's collection look like somebody's card table full of Hi Points at a gun show.

Of course there's no reason to LIVE in NYC to see it.

Don't worry, the antis will soon be after that 'arms and armor' thing... I read that in Britain, they are going to force all of the museums to permanently render inoperable any firearms in their collections, including historically important pieces from both world wars. These people remind me of the Taliban and ISIS blowing up historically significant monuments. Because they don't fit in with their world view or religious beliefs. That is what is coming if we don't stand together. We will be Britain. And yes, I have visited there many times, have a degree from a British university, and have many friends there. But the people in power, and the media are able to enact crazy laws that take your breath away in their totalitarian bigotry and destructiveness. Back to NYC... I see the same mindset developing there, and in other large urban settings. God help us.

Well, since I first posted this rant, I went back to the 'Telegraph' to get the link to the story so that I could add it to this post, and I see that since I first read the story, the 'Telegraph has added an update that they have been informed that the new proposed EU rules from Brussels are not as draconian as was first believed. Here is a link to the original story. Check it out for yourselves:

Thousands of guns in British museums could be 'mutilated' under new law from Brussels - Telegraph

I have a former friend who would disagree with you. He lived on the 62nd floor.

I spent considerably less time on my balcony on 37 after witnessing evidence of that disagreement.
