Default Am I the only poor sap this happens to??

Being retired I don't drive that much.A full tank of gas will usually last me a month.I have enjoyed watching the price of gas drop at the stations in my area and wondered where it might eventually settle at.Apparently prices have already stopped falling.

I had to drop some letters at the P.O. today and my normal gas station is conveniently right across the street from the P.O.As I entered the P.O. I looked across the street and saw that gas was $1.51 for 85 octane.I still had almost half a tank but figured I might as well fill up while in the area.

I pull into the gas station and as I'm getting out of my truck I look at the pump and 85 octane is now $1.69.I look at the sign on the street and it has the same price. In the few minutes I spent at the P.O. it now cost me an additional 18/gal.

There ought to be a law where prices can only be changed in the middle of the night when no one is looking.

Last weekend I forgot to pull in to the $1.73 station and the next one had no posted price, so I stopped to check prices at the pump. Premium was maybe $1.93 and regular was $2.15. I went to another pump to double check since the first pump had a bag on the nozzle. Same price. Never saw that before. I moved on.

Nah, your not the only one. Plenty of us learn the hard way about the meaning of the saying "you snooze, you lose". Had a hard-to-find rifle get away from me on Bud's once, in two minutes of distraction. Focused my attention like a laser the next time it appeared.

Smile Diesel Fuel Question

Most times when I stop for gas the service stations also has a diesel pump next to the gas pump. Most times there is a pool of spilled diesel fuel on the ground around the pumps that one has to step though to get to the pumps.
why do diesel drivers let their tanks run over ???

Gas was $1.37/gal here yesterday, thinking about filling up a couple 55 gallon drums, how long would it keep and be safe to use in modern vehicles?

Default Its already going back up....

Last week it was 1.37 for regular, now it's $1.87. I use a thankful or so per week now that I have retired. The poor guys in the gas business must be going nuts.

With all the oil field workers getting laid off in this area I would like to see $3.00 a gallon gas.

Summer blend is coming up in many areas, so expect a price hike there.

You have to put 'stabilizer' in it. It ought to be good for a year at least.
Buy oil company stocks when the price is low, sell when it's high and you can then afford the high gas.

Haliburton is about to lay off another 600 or so, just in the Houston area alone. I heard nationwide, 10,000 are getting the pink slip. I have mixed feelings on this, hate to see people laid off but, if I had a car? I don't want to pay $4.00 per gallon of gas.

Same here gas jumped from 1.31.9 to 1.46.9 overnight. This is not a good sign with warm weather coming on.

It's not the diesel driver...It's the auto cutoffs on the nozzles..I think they work better with gasoline than with diesel..Also gas will evaporate if you spill it.. diesel won't..

I can't believe that y'all are complaining about sub-$2.00 a gallon gas! If it was free,SOMEBODY would complain about the long lines at the pump!

JMHO,

I'm with him. It's the difference in nozzles, diesel doesn't have the fancy narrow filler and vapor recovery system. I've trained myself to turn the nozzle over and finish draining into the tank before removing it.

Oh, and any spilled gasoline will evaporate quickly, the diesel needs to get washed away.
