Default The Houlton, Maine factory - What happens there?

I did not know that the Houlton, Maine S&W no longer produces complete firearms. For a while, they were producing the 22 pistols and the 1911s, I think. And perhaps the 3d Gen pistols that were still occasionally made for LE contracts.

It seems that the plant now makes all of the restraints and only pistol slides. Here is an interesting article I found when looking for something else today:
