Safe Lighting
I'm looking for options for getting some good light in my safe. I don't have a way to get power into my safe without drilling a hole in it, which is out of the question. I'm ok with using battery powered LED lights. Just looking for ideas from those that have added inside lighting to your safes. Thanx

I bought some battery operated LEDs from Amazon that are motion activated for a bedroom closet. The ones I got are quite heavy as they use 4 'D' cell batteries, but I'm sure there are others available.

My top shelf would block any light source attached to the safe ceiling . . .

There are LED lights about the size of a hockey puck. They have two sided tape to place them where you wish, I stuck them to a magnet and the are moveable to different areas, and stick to the walls and ceiling. But my good old save isn't fire lined, they won't stick to carpet if yours is. It beats using a AA mini-mag in your teeth!

I use these (similar to the pucks). I use the hook side of Velcro and they stick solid to the safe lining! I have one on the front side top edge and one on the front side edge by the hinges. Picked them up at either Sams of Costco for less than $20.

I just bought 3 cheap push lights from Dollar Tree.
Velcroed one up at the top of inside, one on inside of door, and one on inside sidewall.
Good enough for my cheap ***.

I have a piano lamp on top the safe,,,
you can aim it right into the safe,,, been using it for 20 years,,,
It makes it easy to see the combination,,, too!!
Maybe it is time for me to get a more modern lamp??

On the wall directly in front of my safe (about 4 distance & 7 high) I have a large can type light fixture mounted that shines directly into the safe. It works well in illuminating the safe interior and also the general area.
It did not cost me a nickel as I had the parts from a rip out at a previous house and it works well. Put a plug/switch on the wire and plugged it in to an existing outlet. Total installation time about 7 minutes that was attaching the fixture and putting the plug and inline switch on.
FWIW I do have power in the safe for the rod, but above works so well I never thought of doing anything else. Going on 14 years now!

You've all got me bested. I've just been using the flashlight app on my phone. Sometimes I could use a third arm, though . . .

Gents, be careful where you mount those battery powered lights. Batteries do sometimes leak, and you do not want that dripping down and falling on your guns.
Me, I leave the battery operated LED light outside of the safe when I am done.

Why is drilling a hole out of the question?

I went to a local plastics company and had them cut me some thick pieces of plexiglass to the same dimensions as my safe shelves, no more shadows.
