What is stuff like this doing in the news?

Link to a story on a major news outlet

It's one thing to report it after it is public knowledge.
It's quite another to be the first to publicize something better kept under wraps

It was announced by the US Attorney at a news conference after the arrests...21 charged with student-visa fraud after feds open fake college - News - NorthJersey.com
EDIT-Meant to say, it was no "scoop".

There was likely activity that suggested the cat was out of the bag in the bogus visa crowd already.

If they spent more time prosecuting the criminals in their own ranks, they wouldn't have to spend taxpayer monies on phony schools.

Really? I daresay there are far more criminals in your profession ...whatever it is...than in the law enforcement profession.

It would be better if the US Gov threatened to pull funding to REAL colleges and universities if they had students with expired or no visas.

I have had college interns who had to renew their visas to work on internships. The college did not seem concerned at all the paperwork lapsed.

Employers had to be...
