?? Trojan Malware on Gunbroker ??
I got a Trojan Malware alert when visiting Gunbroker April 28 and 30
Windows Defender took care of it but I was not pleased.
Anyone else have this happen?

I'm on there quite a bit and have not noticed anything. I use Zone Alarm, Eset, and have an external router with firewall.

Same here.
Best for stopping such things as far as I'm concerned.

I too encountered a "Ransom Scam" in a reply in the "Geaser Qualifications" thread from yesterday. It was in a link posted as to the ins and out of HB 218. It looked very official and wanted me to immediately click on its internal link thereby taking me to their website. It totally locked my 'puter out of my control. I knew better and just manually shut down my 'puter. Then I restarted it and went thru a very little to get back to normal.

McAfee blocked me from GB yesterday. That seems to happen more since they started all the ads. I have had bad problems with GB in the past.

The key to all this is to use a browser that can use plugins that block trackers, flash objects, and scripts BEFORE the malicious content can even reach your antivirus which may or may not recognize the threat.
I haven't run a third-party antivirus or firewall on any of my computers since 2007.

Not surprising. That stuff is EVERYWHERE. I switched to the AVG anti virus software about 5 years ago after my PC got nailed TWICE and I haven't been bitten since.

Firefox is the browser I like best and the add-ons i use are Flash Block Plus and Ghostery.
Flash Block Plus stops those annoying auto-playing videos on news sites and also animated advertising videos and other Flash-based ads.
Ghostery blocks advertising and analytic marketing trackers.
When unscrupulous people write a script to take advantage of a security hole, they target Internet Explorer because that's what most people use since it comes installed with Windows.
The other part is being able to distinguish tricks from real problems. Being a computer tech, I readily recognize the tricks and traps that some people fall for.

A lot of these worms are coming from your internet provider.
They live on their servers.
Nothing you can do about it at your end.
I had one that got through Kaspersky. They said they couldn't catch all of those. Hmmm, what am I paying them for?

I used to use Defender. Thought it was great until it failed. If you read the reviews it's a second rate anti virus program.
