Default New outdoor range ..

Put off the Honey Do's and the weather co-operated and I went to the range I had joined a few weeks ago finally !! Seems either appointments or the weather has been the reason I haven't gotten there before today ..

The range is run by MGCA (Midwest Gun Collectors Association) and follows their Rules and Regulations .. Very nice with overhead canopies at every range .. picnic tables to set your gear and either tables or built in benches to shoot from .. several pistol ranges set up at different distances, a shotgun range with built in throwers, and what looks like a 300 yard rifle range .. and a archery range .. suppose to have 1800 paid members in our club ..

To the shooting - took the last two pistols I have bought a sig P238 .380 ACP and my new Sig Legion P229 in 40 S&W .. put a hundred rounds through each of them with excellent results ..

Neither has had any type of failure and the P238 is very comfortable to shoot for an all steel mouse gun .. And what can I say about the Legion .. very smooth with the shortest reset of a trigger I have ever shot .. easy to get back on for the 2nd and following shots .. very accurate if the shooter does their part .. was easy to get 2-3 inch 3 and 5 round groups at 15 feet .. I shot it better today then I did the first 50 rounds .. still getting use to it and its sight picture ..

Decide to ease up a bit after 100 rounds or 40 S&W and pulled out my Beretta PX4 in 9mm .. it has less recoil feel then the P-238 I think .. its one of my 2 carry pistols right now .. put 100 thru it before I was done ..

And then as I always do I ran a few rounds thru my current carry my S&W 40 Compact .. well then it turned into another 101 rounds ..

Rain showers stayed away .. Was a great day at the range !! 401 rounds down range !!

Sounds like a nice Range. Couldn't IMAGINE being relegated to an INDOOR Range! I'm spoiled living where I do. We all shoot out our back doors.

I do belong to the MO River Shooting Complex in Great Falls though. Nice , though somewhat primitive, out door range. Two nice pistol ranges. A 25 to 200 yd rifle and another 50-300 yd rifle range. The former covered, the latter in the open. And a 125-675 silhouette range with steel plates.

I still enjoy the Club Range, get to socialize with other shooters, I RSO occasionally and assist with some Classes as well.

Default A Forty-five Kind of Day

Went to an outdoor range myself today, the Ft. Bliss Bow& Gun Club. Took my two 45 Colt New Vaquero Rugers, a SA GI .45, a SA .45 Champion and a S&W 1911Sc. I was mostly testing some new handloads or I probably wouldn't have stayed. The wind was blowing 45 miles an hour with plenty of associated dust and sand. It wasn't nearly so much fun but it was shooting, which has to count for something anyway.
