New Frank Hamer book and it's excellent!!
This one popped up out of nowhere over on another gun forum and stirred up a lively conversation. Written by my favorite historic writer, it is an excellent history of Hamer intertwined with the intense Texas history of the early to mid 20th century. So much of what happened there in the old days are things we can relate to right now in the whole country.
It's over 500 pages and impossible to put down. The author covers the firearms used more than any other non gun book writer I ever read. I never seen pics of Hamer packing a Savage 99, but there he is. Such references are endless in this highly recommended book. Perhaps my favorite now by this fine author, also a regular on the past show Wild West Tech. If you have a pic of Hamer's Triplelock mentioned in at least one gunfight and I heard of before, please post it.
Interview with author in Texas...

Thanks for the tip, Wyatt. It's only been out a month, and is also available as a Kindle book.

Is that "Old Lucky" in the photo, or merely a close friend?

I wonder how he treated the engraved Remington Model 81 rifle that Hamer allegedly used in the B&C ambush, despite the fact it wasn't even made until 5 years after the ambush.

That .45 of mine pictured was made in 1911. Here's a later one like "Ol' Lucky" which was originally silver plated. Mine's nickel, though, and just happened to have similar grips when this picture was taken.

Wyatt is right on the money, it is a great read and the best documentation on "nailing" the coldblooded killers, Bonnie and Clyde. Tough Peace Officers doing what needed to be done. If only the public supported LE like they did in the past.

It was TODAY in 1934 when Mr. Hamer and his crew solved the problem!

This book's now on my Must Read List. If it's at the bookstore, I'll buy it tomorrow. If not, I'll order it.

Killjoy.
I was so looking forward to driving to a bookstore, finding out it's not in stock, ordering it at full price and waiting a week for it to come in whereupon I would drive back and pick it up. Spoilsport!

I went to my favorite independent bookstore this afternoon...they didn't have it.
Since I was on that side of town, I stopped in at Sears & Noble...I mean Barnes & Noble...and they had two copies in hardcover. I bought one and look forward to starting it this evening with dinner.

Just ordered a hard copy from Amazon. Looking forward to its arrival.
Ordered another one, too. This one is an old one, though, by Elmore Leonard, Valdez is Coming. Saw the movie the other night for the third or fourth time, starring Burt Lancaster.
When both books arrive, I should have enough reading material to last me a few days.
Thanks for letting us know about the Frank Hamer book.
