Snubby's Camping Adventure
Me and Mrs. Snubby recently went camping. Weather was perfect and we had a great time.
There were lotsa bugs and it was one of the few times I used bug spray. I'm really glad my wife convinced me to bring it along.

Not to worry about bears in those woods, cause the zombies eat them all.

That campsite looks nice and roomy. Or is that the effect of the lens?

Nah, that's not actually me, just a local actor to keep up the illusion of me bein' an Injun. I'm actually a blonde haired, blue eyed white guy. I dubbed in my voice in post.

A bit of both, the wide angle lens does expand stuff a bit but it was nice and roomy. It coulda fit a few more tents.

I was actually kinda surprised that she didn't insist on cooking some pasta.
We had whole wheat buns with our hot dogs. Tastes a bit like our home made bannock.

My Idea of camping:
But Lisa likes such things like sleeping in a tent and drinking something that's not warm water.
I've been trying to get her to go backpacking with me. So far I've at least got her to go camping someplace without a bathhouse, flushing toilets and running water.

Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
We used to camp out, take float trips fish and camp out, camp out during deer season. I never found an Army surplus new in the bag air mattress that could hold air all night. Not even new ones when I was in the military.
We bought a camping accessory that is hard to beat. About 8 years ago we bought a 30' RV, for heat, AC, lights just turn on the generator.
It is camping old phart style, my wife and I love it. HD TV for the grandkids, oven, stove, fridge, couch, recliner and no bugs. Oh yea a sit down toilet and a shower. I've frozen to the bone in MO, KS, WY and NM on hunts or 90 something heat during an early Utah Elk hunt. Fed bugs in many states, curse my camping style if you want but I wont hear you over the generator or the western on the HD TV.
We took it on a maiden run after buying it, 3 labs, 5 grandkids and food. Smores, movies and dogs loving sleeping with the kids. Hey PaPa the lab next to me smells like a dog, yep I'll talk to him about that in the morning. Hey PaPa this lab is passing seriously bad gas. Shush, don't talk about it in front of him we don't want to hurt his feelings. Hey PaPa this lab is passing gas, smells and is scratching like crazy, don't worry it's probably only fleas, chiggers and ticks, they don't eat much. PaPa are you kidding? Yes, we sprayed the dogs and they have the high dollar monthly meds.
When we went to bed I just laid there giggling, my wife thought I had lost it. No dear, I have found it. None of the bugs, leaky tents, snakes, rain, ice, cold or heat and did you set the alarm on the coffee pot for in the morning? Good night beautiful.
Almost forgot it has a microwave, fit that in your back back.

I'm glad to see that somebody else still camps in a tent. I was beginning to believe I was the only one left.

But this video was from Green Ridge State Forrest in Maryland.
But near the WV border, and the terrain is similar to adjacent parts of WV.

Miss Pam and I tent camped for years. We had a really nice 2-room Camel tent with a screened in porch. We had a place on Toledo Bend Just on the Texas side of the state line on HWY 21 from Many Louisiana. A mom and pop place called The Lazy J Landing.
We were walking back to our tent from the evenings community camp fire in the middle of the compound. And as we walked past one of our neighboring tents she happened to notice that because of the lantern that was on inside the tent you could see, in silhouette, the people inside and exactly every thing that they were doing.
She freaked out. She asked me if people could see us that way in our tent. My hesitation to answer was a mistake. I should have said, "No way babe! We have complete privacy in our tent." But by the time I could figure a response that would not terminate our camping forever it was too late...just way too late.
An hour later we were pack up and rolling along on the dusty trail back to Deer Park and my sweet adventure loving bride has yet to set another foot in any tent, any where, at any time of day.
Fun while it lasted though....

I am careful enough to always pitch my tent far away from any paths and preferably in a thicket where no-one will go by accident. Part paranoia, part habit from military service.
If I want to enjoy scenery in the evening I go to a more scenic place to sit and have dinner and then return to the secluded tent to sleep.
The best place to sleep is in a thicket where you can hear anyone approaching from any direction and even better if it is such an ugly place, for example a small island in the middle of a swamp, that even moderately motivated searchers are tempted to skirt it. I have practice in hiding from search parties and even dog patrols, the nice bonus from military service and reservist training. In childhood I was afraid of the dark but now I know that a dark forest is a very safe place when you take charge of the situation. Just do not advertise your presence.
