Default Air mattress

Guys,
Wonder if this has ever happened to anyone else.My bed mattress has cost me a couple of sleepless nights & back pain in the morning.Had too much to do ,couldn't go shopping for a mattress & decided to try a temporary fix it.So i grabbed a air mattress I got when I was helping people move. I pulled it out of the closet....attached the auto pump on & filled it up.Slept like a baby....no back pain in the morning!!This has happened for two nights!! This thing cost me about $30!! I remember shopping for my "former"mattress....I think it was over $400.This is crazy!! I'll keep my eyes open for a sale...but in the meantime! Has anyone else tried this??
Jim

You were lucky to find one that works. I have also, but I've also found some very uncomfortable ones.
Enjoy the good one!
Sometimes its just a matter of something different that helps and not a long term fix. Maybe you'll be fortunate and prove that wrong.

The sleep number bed (I sleep on one) is just a fancy air mattress. I built the platform the mattress sits on, this gives us lots of storage under the bed, our legs are at just the right height for "rolling" out of bed in the morning. We got the basic thickness and I wish we had bought one an inch or two thicker. Ivan

Bought an inflatable mattress at an outfitters store before the last move so I'd have something to sleep on until the furniture arrived. Surprisingly comfortable, but under the circumstances, I think sofa cushions would have been OK. Sleep Number has made a few $B off a deluxe air mattress over the years, so you may have found a upgrade path. Tempurpedic has done well for my lower back pain, but I am tempted to try Sleep Number.

I used a queen sized air mattress for a few years, and it worked fine.

A couple years ago a hotel in Raleigh changed ownership and refinished and we bought a queen sized sleep number bed in new condition for $150. It's been great.

I have bought a bunch of air mattresses over the years and hopefully will never buy another. Not a single one lasted very long before it got a leak, and we used to do a lot of tent camping and waking up after several hours on rocky ground is not a great way to sleep. I use futons now for camping which isn't very often any more, but a high dollar, well made mattress that suits your body type and the way you sleep is worth every penny and should last a long time.

Most of the time an air mattress is just a way to delay sleeping on the ground. After trying several types I bought a cot and a some 4" thick memory foam for camping. I will never spent any more money on an air mattress unless it uses real inter tube material and has a canvas cover.

We've been Select Comfort (Sleep Number) customers for years, since Paul Harvey convinced us to try it, on the radio. My inlaw's ordered the basic version and long after the trial period expired, I found out my MIL was not sleeping well with it. I called customer service and convinced them to sell just the pillowtop mattress portion, without the rest of the system, which is not company policy. YMMV
