My truck is a 1998 Ford, F-150,2 door, regular cab fleetside, with the 4.2 L V-6 Engine, a 3.08 ratio rear end, and the 5 Speed (on the floor) manual transmission (4 forward + overdrive). I bought it new in 1998 and I have no plans to sell it. At my age it appears it will out live me, because unlike me it still starts and runs just like it did when it was new.

It has rubber floor mats, an AM/FM radio, hand crank windows, a bench seat, and an A/C that blows cold as it did when I bought it. It gets over 20 MPG and is worth every penny I paid for it, which was $14,500 drive out including tax and title. I have had the brakes worked on once, the fuel pump replaced, and I have changed out several of the fuses, changed the oil and filter, and the gas filter, and put tires on it. Other than that I just drove it. It is by far the best vehicle I ever owned in my 70 years.

I don’t care for ford cars, but I love their trucks.

Our EMO (Estrada Mobile Office)

It's a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT, 2WD, good factory options incl. anti-spin diff., tow group with class IV hitch, etc.

I put in a Supreme Suspension 3/2 inch lift for a tad more clearance, Pro-Comp shocks and struts, 285/70-17 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 on 9" Vision Wheels, Deezee brushguard, KC Daylighters and a Uniden 980SSB with a 4' Firestik antenna. Love it

I still love my old truck. It's now 13 years old, and I've owned it for about 10. Piece by piece, I've made it my own, and how it should have been from the factory. All with OEM parts, a lil horse trading of parts from friends and such. I've got a list of everything I've done, and it's about 4 pages long.
It's still got the original motor, with 224,939 miles and that's about the only thing I haven't touched. With the custom tune, I avg 19.6 mpg in the city and around 28mpg on the highway. Needless to say, the cost of the tune has more then paid for itself, in increased gas mileage.
I've been going back and forth on getting a new daily driver, but it's been hard to let go of..Not sure if any new vehicle would fit me the same way.

I got this one last year, needed a few things so far, the biggest was a tranny and a few other things but I have put 14,000 miles on it in only 9 months albeit highway miles. It has 122,000 on it altogether which isn't all that bad since it is 23 years old.

This old thing is tough as nails though, I have had to drive this a couple times in cold weather when I didn't want to, but it started, ran and drove. It's 42 years old and has a 390 and an automatic, she still turns heads, this year it needed a carb and a distributor but it runs good and is as simple to work on as it gets.

My '07 Ford F150 I bought used in 2010 with 37K on it. I now have 76K on it and it's a good truck. I still get compliments on it too. I generally haul two boats and a utility trailer and 4 wheeler with it. It was dirty from running up and down a dirt road hog hunting in the picture.

Being from NYC, we didn't grow up around pick-up's, but when we started taking short-term contract work around the country, we needed something to haul with. In 1996, when Hubby decided to start bringing his motorcycle, we needed a bigger trailer and truck.

He up-sized to the Ram, 20 years ago next month, and that truck never struggled to climb a hill with the trailer in tow, during several coast-to-coast moves. We don't move around anymore, but he still has that truck. Other than oil changes, tires, and brakes, it's never been repaired. It's 4WD, manual shift, and has the V10 engine.

I don't think either of us has affection for it, but we both appreciate a good machine.

My daily driver is a '15 Ram Ecodiesel. Love the mpg and its a long bed crew cab so I can load everyone up. My weekend farm truck is a '07 Silverado with 190K on it. One of the last true "Work Trucks", it has manual windows and locks. Its starting to rust in the rear wheel wells, but runs well after a few issues over the years. My 16 year old drives a '94 GMC Sierra Z71 with 350 engine, manual tranny and about 220K on it. Rusty bucket of bolts anda few issues that only a 16 year old could cause, but still a decent old truck for short hops. All are 4X4 rigs.

I have couple of old truck and couple newer ones:

66 Dodge 310 3.5 ton stake body 413 commerial 4x4 split rim tires on the rear axle (I bought new)----This truck a little over 800,000 miles on clock----the motor has been rebuilt 6 or 7 times and right now it has a Frankenstein motor built from parts from 413, 440, and 426 motors. The rear end and tranny have been rebuilt once. I still drive her around as I want to get 1,000,000 million miles on the old beater.

2000 Sonoma 4.3 liter 4x4 with lockers front and rear, 2 inch lift----this GMC has 337,000 plus mile on the frame---original motor, trans, rear end, and transfer case. Wanted to get 350,000 plus on her but that won't happen as I'll up taking her off the road the end of July as their no way I be able to get her to pass the state inspection due to 98% of truck being rotted out.

Default Well, I still like my...

...old van. Had one like it for years and somebody wrecked it for me so I bought one just like it and have been driving it since. Dodge Caravan. VERY utilitarian which suits me just fine.

I have bought 3 new vehicles in my life. The newest being a 2017 Titan XD. For about a year I could stand in my driveway and see all 3. The 17, the 06 and and my old 89 F150. 2 years ago I finally sold the 89 to a guy who was able to work on it. He said the big reason he bought it was that it was a manual trany and his wife couldn't drive it.When I buy them I love them and drive them till the wheels fall off. The 89 was rusted out so bad the you could throw a cat thru it. The guy who bought it did some body work and replaced all the rubber vac lines and drove it until the wheels WERE going to fall off (Bad king pins) and sold it to a guy who needed a good motor and trany. Both had been replaced about 40,000 miles before I sold it. Still have the 06, a Titan with 110,000 miles and the 17 with 12,000. Yup, I love them both.

Well, it made it to August 2018 with 270K miles.
Didn't die but repairs were piling up and work gave me a company car so that was that.

Default Old Red Ram...

This old 1990 W150 (heavy half-ton) has been a fixture in our little town since it was new. I didn’t want to see that change, so I adopted it earlier this year. Since then, I’ve done some work on it and it’s a stalwart workhorse. Reminds me of why, until recently, I’ve always had a truck around the place. It’s found itself quite at home here.

I bought this 81 in 91 and sold it to a guy last year that just done a frame off restore. I haven't seen it yet but others said it looked factory new. It hadn't been in the mud ever. I was still riding dirt bikes back then. The dog is 21 and still alive.

Just the opposite. I replaced a 98 F-150 with my 07 Tacoma, and I don't ever see myself going back to Ford.

I drive a 97 Ford Heavy Duty extenta cab 4x4 with a 7.3 PowerStoke. Allison automatic. 250,000 miles. Replace tranny at 175,000. Injectors last year. Has 12volt Tweco style plugs, front and rear. 9000# Warn (or jumper cables) plugs those and receiver on either end. Has a rack that goes over the cab. Rack also carries a set of gin poles that I can mount and lift stuff with. Has a 2000 watt inverter. Box in back holds chains, sheaves, straps, coffee pot and single burner stove. Have an extenda hitch for it and with that installed I can mount ramps I made and drive my Polaris Ranger up till its front wheels are past the trucks wheel wells, disconnect the first 4' of ramp that goes to extenda hitch and drive away. Its not that pretty anymore, but its Tuff and its all mine.

Same here. I drove Ford cars & trucks for 35 years. Bought a Tundra in 2003 and just sold it last month. It still looked and drove like new and I probably should have kept it. But that darn Army green 2020 Taco suckered me in. Still like your old truck? It will probably last longer than I will.

As much as I liked my 2006 Toyota Tundra with 231K miles on it, I decided it was time to replace it.

I bought a used (one owner, 9K miles) 2019 Tacoma from a dealer. Not cheap, but it has a lot of nice features.

Cement gray, with an OEM hard tonneau cover.

Also, my auto insurance is going down, not up. Newer vehicles have a lot more in the way of safety features, so insurance is less.

It's a world of difference between the two trucks. Mine is not loaded, but it has all of the features that I wanted.

Bought this 1982 Silverado new back then. Pulled a 32' Holiday Rambler
all around the country. It was the 6.2 diesel, but after problems twice,
I converted to gas. Couple of paint jobs too. I don't know why I hang
on to it, but I do enjoy taking it for a spin now and then.

I have a 98 Dodge Ram 4X4 that I bought new off the lot 97. It's beat up, the hot AZ sun has cracked the dash, ruined the paint and it has dents and scrapes. I'll drive it till the wheels fall off, then put new wheels back in it. It cost over 30K in 98, an obscene amount. Today probably over 60K or more.

There is no way I'll spend that amount for a truck.

My '95 Eddie Bauer F150, 302 5 Speed 121k- bought new, formerly daily driver - now for utililty only - still love to drive it - perhaps even more based on 25 years of memories.....

I hope it lasts as long as I do, or more llikely, me as long as it does.

My Ram Quadcab is only 1-1/2 years old but I have 62,000 miles on it, does that count for old?

A guy slid into me this winter so I had to get out the 89 Toyota. It was March it had set since September. Dug it out put in a warm battery and off it went. It has been the best $10,000 I ever spent.

Still driving my 2003 F-150 Super Cab that I bought used in 2006. It was all of 2 miles to work and 10 miles to the range. Although it did get occasional long trips, it only has 125,000 on it and still going strong.
i thought about trading a couple of times. Even went looking at other trucks. But this old girl suits me to a "T". Everything I want in a truck and nothing I don't need. I'm gonna run it till the wheels fall off.

I also still have my late wife's 2004 Grand Marque. She was disabled and didn't drive much. Its only got 67,000 miles on it. Great car, runs like a top. Never saw any reason to sell it, so I just keep it as a spare and drive it occasionally when I need more passenger room.

I bought this 1979 F-260 new June 8th 1979.

I added a LP dual fuel system to it a year after buying it.
And then added a Detroit Locker to the rear Dana 60 and a Ford Trac-Loc to the front Dana 44.

It saw a lot of very hard miles. Very hard.

I finally sold it back in June 2013. It was all used up at about 245,000 miles.
This is one of my two favorite vehicles.

This is my current pickup.
A 2011 Chevy 2500HD 6.0L 4-WD.

I bought it back in 2013 with 20,000 miles on it.
Today it has 212,000 miles on it.

5 headlight bulbs and a fuel pump at 180,000 miles is all the repairs that I have done to it.

It still wears the factory brakes.

This has been an excellent truck.

We have a 1989 F-150 with around 500,000 miles. It's on its 3rd engine -stepson broke the first at 62,000 when he left the drain plug out after an oil change. The 2nd made it to almost 400,000 when it failed the state emissions test due to the blue oil smoke. Expect the new motor to last until the truck dies, sometime about 750,000 miles. The seat and headliner are shot (to be replaced this summer) and the paint is a lovely shade of rust and original water-based primer. Maybe next year for new paint. Gotta keep it going so I can tow home my wife's 1999 Suburban. The electrical system was designed by a graduate of the Marquis de Sade school of electrical design, and installed by a hung-over UAW worker on a Monday morning before break.

Do I like my old truck? Yes, very much. 1999 K 2500 Suburban, 454 big block, 4x4 with a Tru Trac in the rear.

They don't even make a K 2500 any more.
Needless to say, Ziebart is my friend.

Back in 1988 I bought a Ford 150 short cab 4x4 with 37,000 miles from the original owner. I had the truck until 2003 when I remarried then. My son in law has it to this day. He owned a body shop & restored to better than new. A true classic. Now my son, Richard wants to use to to take his daughter to the Chapel for her wedding.Damn, it brings tears to this old guys eyes. Wish I could learn to post pics but that is beyond me.

Back in 2010 I bought a '07 Ranger 4x4 king cab. It had 20,728 miles then. Now I just turned 93,000 the other day. Guess it will outlive me. Ha Ha.

I had a 79 F100 light half ton short bed styleside.
300 with 3 on the tree jet black. An old mans truck if there ever was one, but i loved it. One night me and it got clobbered head on by an Olds 88. Bent every body panel on it.

My '85 Dodge 3/4 tonner, referenced above in earlier post, reached its one-year anniversary sitting in the same spot in the driveway.

A neighbor's son- a really good kid--came over with a friend of his to ask if I'd consider selling. The friend is a high school senior who has been working construction summers and weekends for a couple of years to save up money to buy a truck for cash.
Shortening an otherwise long story, I offered it at a price he immediately snapped at, and after an hour or so getting it started (starter relay, probably) he left happy. From the questions he asked and the way he talked while he was here, I wouldn't be surprised if he'll pretty it up, keep it for 30+ years , and pass it on when he has a son. I'll tell myself that's what's going to happen, anyway.

It was my "time doesn't matter" machine. I never felt in a hurry once I got in it, and it always delivered me where I wanted to go.
I hate letting it go, but that's probably due to having to acknowledge that with my low vision, I'm not going to be driving it all over the Midwest or even all over the county.

I'm still driving my 04 Dodge Dakota that I bought new. It has 117k miles on it but it's starting to nickel and dime me lately. Passenger power window motor has to be replaced and my mechanic has it now trying to determine whether the oil pump or the sending unit is bad as I write this. It still drives great and looks good but it may be the time to replace it. I hate shopping for new vehicles! No matter what I do I always feel like I've been screwed.

Luckily, it was the oil sending unit so I'll be good to go after tomorrow. It's a $26.00 part so that isn't too bad. I priced a new power window motor from the dealer and it is a crazy $365.00 part. I can order one from JC Whitney for about $80.00.

Bought a '90 chevy shortbed when I turned 16 with farm work money, had a blown motor. Uncle and I turned it into a sleeper truck put almost 10k in the motor alone.... put almost 150k miles on that truck in the 6 years I owned it.... needed something more fuel efficient for work so off went the old street machine... miss it

My "Old Truck" was a 1985 Toyota 4-Runner (solid front axel) that I replaced in 2010 with a Toyota FJ-Cruiser ( full-time 4wd with a 6 speed manual tranny)........sold the 4-Runner for more than I paid for it in '85 (I know you gotta figure in inflation , but still figure I'm ahead as I look at it). Love the FJ Cruiser & I've been offered more than I paid for it 10yrs ago a couple of times...just can't replace it with what I like in a vehicle.

Default 2006 Silverado

Bought it used in 2011 with 130K miles. Main reason I got this one was it had a topper and was an extended cab with long bed. When I bought it I did a lot of gun shows in WY with my wife. And five tables of junque filled up my Suburban to the point I needed more room.
Shortly after I bought it I added a heavy duty brush guard...they call them grill guards here in 'Bama. It paid off a couple of months later when Bubba backed into it. He got a big dent in his Dodge and I was fine.
We relocated to Enterprise, AL (near Dothan) last November. After we bought the house I had both the truck and wife's Suburban serviced. The Suburban gets used every day, the truck just sits in the yard, especially during the past four months. Since November it has been to one gun show in Dothan.
During the lock down the city closed the recycle drop at public works and the truck became my storage. It was packed when they finally reopened last month.
In the middle of last month I had noticed that the rear bumper was really delaminating due to the rust caused by the brine solutions that NE and WY use on the roads. It was starting to come apart in chunks. Then the finish on the brush guard started the same process. Since I couldn't find any of the body shops that wanted to redo the guard I decided I needed to do something. Since we have a truck accessory store locally I visited them and was able to get the guard and bumper replaced. Total was about $1500 installed for both. Done deal.
I haven't found any evidence of cancer anywhere on the body, but I am sure it will show some day.
So now I have a shiny white long bed with a solid front and rear. It has 210K miles now, but still runs like a top. And when I think about maybe getting a new crew cab I go to the dealership and look at the $72K sticker and happily drive my old 2006.
Next maintenance item is getting the headliner fixed, coming loose around the edges.
When I looked the other day I have driven it a total of 450+ miles since the November oil change while the Suburban is fast approaching the next service point.
This will probably be the last truck I own, especially since I don't play the lottery and it isn't likely that I will inherit enough money to buy a new one.

117,000 and change and still running strong. Right now there's 1k lbs of gravel in the bed waiting to be shoveled out to some hunt property roads.

What are you guys doing later today?

I miss my 02’ C1500. Great truck, V8, no problems but it was 2 wheel drive.
I broke down and bought a F250 4x4 since I often pull a tractor in the mountains.
What I really, really miss is that Chevy’s tailgate! Great place to sit down for a spell. No way on this 250. Need a ladder and my feet would be dangling anyways.
Chevy for all around comfort IMHO
