An adjustable wrench that stays adjusted? One in which the moving part doesn't move until I want it to. I'm talking about a "thumb wrench" or crescent type wrench.

MAC has one that worked real well for about ten years then loosened up some. It's a 12" er. Don't remember the model number. AW something.... It also opens up to 1 3/4"

Crescent wrenches are why people end up using pliers on nuts and bolts.

I studied two years in Diesel Mechanics and then worked in the trade for several more. I remembered how disappointed I was ten years later to see a co-worker I respected using a crescent wrench. It was the first time in ten years I had seen one in the trade. Don't use one unless you mind rounding off a bolt, nut or fitting.

When I was a working die maker, we used adjustable wrenches all the time. They ranged in 18" to 24" and were used on bolts with 1" and larger threads.

I climb 30' ladders and walk across 130 degree roofs to repair rooftop air conditioners. I have several sets of tools in my van, but carrying a full set of wrenches up a ladder and across a rooftop in addition to the rest of the equipment needed for repairs sometimes is not an option. An adjustable wrench is more prudent on such an occasion.

I had no idea anybody made such a thing! If I ever bothered to fix anything any more and didn't have the right size combo or box wrench, that would be great if it fit into the needed space.

250mm for the right handed and 10" for the left.

I would have never spent the money on a Snap-on but found one on the street while riding my bike. All I can say is it's tight and smooth, The best adjustable I've ever had.

I've bought lots of Snap-on combos, ratchets, sockets, screw drivers, hammers and such but never would have thought about buying their crescent.
