So THAT'S where I left those things! I'd lose my head if it weren't loosely attached.

Judging by the uniforms, it's a shipment to the Aussies or Brits.

Easiest way is the 21's and over stamps all have Colt's address.

They are Brits. Ive seen this pic before and these were supposedly a shipment they got from us in 1940. Churchill was given one.
The Brits recently found it too amongst his things. Dunno what they did with it after the discovery? HOPEFULLY it was sent to the Imperial War Museum for display.

I've heard they were very popular with the Brits.
The nickname "Tommy Gun" sure didn't hurt!

When I was a kid in the 1950's, CBS ran a series on Churchill in the war years. One episode featured a detective showing his guns. One was a Thompson. He also had his WWI Colt .45 auto (not a .455), a .38 Webley, and a Mannlicher-Schoenauer 6.5mm carbine that he probably used for deerstalking in Scotland during more peaceful times. Think he also had some shotguns.
I've read books by British officers who used Thompsons in combat. One in Italy, one in Burma, and one who commanded a Stuart/Honey tank in North Africa.

And "The Gun that Made the '20s Roar." A friend had a full auto version that he let me shoot. An amazing experience and my only FA other than an M16 in basic training in 1969.
