I tried reheating the casserole, in the microwave, in my ammo boxes. Results weren't good!

The Costco nearby, started stocking those ammo cans recently, ironically across from the end of the Tupperware aisle. And last year they began stocking large gun safes. Looks like our hobby is become more mainstream around here.

Just found this video review of the Costco ammo cans.

Our local Costco occasionally has a display of Cannon safes with sales rep. They carried the smaller Winchester safes for quite some time. Gotta remember... we're in Kalifornistan.

Local Tractor Supply carries the Cannon safes & sells the 64 wide body for about $200 more than I paid for my SC23 at my LGS.

No argument there. I have one for an M-60 mg-Vietnam vintage.

Are those new ones at Costco made in China?

Just asking.

The local "farm n' stuff" has or had WW2 dated .50 cal cans for a good price recently.

I have quite a few, but lived most of my life next to a large army base. Many for a quarter at a yard sale.

I have my Dad's, most go back to WW2. When I sold the 160 acres and bought 80 I moved lots of barn items in my 24' flatbed trailer. I notied the other day I had set one GI can out next to a cone seeder. I didn't hold much hope for the contents. It was one of Dad's painted red. WW2 era. I opened it and found some small stuff 24 V gauges and Military parts I took off of my old M-38 Willys Jeep. Dry and nice inside after 18 months out in the weather. Try that with your tupperware as it gets hammered by UV rays or stepped on by cattle.

I have one 50 cal full of knives, others have ambo in them. Yep ambo in case some one is searching for the right spelling.

My ammo cans were exiled to the garage and I was required to move my ammo to "outdoorsman lockers" which are large black tupperware ammo boxes. Apparently, olive green was not in the closet décor scheme.

Think hot new interior colors and paint them. No self respecting thief will open a hot pink 30 cal can. And she can put matching shoes on the cans.....

My wife won't let me keep them by the front door long in a house, we have been in an apt while we beg builders to start our new home. In the Apt she let me keep a few behind the front door.

Paint them pastel, lay boards across them for shelves and shoe storage, and Rick you still here? Hey Rick...

It ain't really the color that she takes a disliking to, it is that it is part of one of my hobbies. Hobbies can keep a man going and put off the life insurance proceeds. My mother in law had cashed in her husband many years younger than I am. My wife feels cheated, but she knows that enough nagging will do the job too.

I am sure that the commercial cans sold in Costco, Walmart etc are Chinese manufacture. I bought four from Academy around last Christmas on sale for $9.99 each shipped. They are made just like the GI cans except the metal seems to be a lighter gauge and the paint is cheap.

I buy GI cans from Ammocanman, they will have sales often and I get the Grade 2 cans, four at a time for around $13 shipped.

They must be winding down at Costco - last week the pile was getting pretty small and they were marked down to $16 for the 2 pack.

Along about 1990 or so I was still workin in the FD. Went to the local Mil Surp place down near Jessup prison. We needed a vehicle to use to firefight in a parking garage. Picked up one of those Dodge P/Us that the military used to use. While I was there they had a pallet or two of the 50 cal ammo cans. asked the guy how much they wanted. he said 50 cents each I said wow..that a lot of money. He thought it was cheap. Said there must be 400 or more there. He looked at me kinda funny and said..you want the ALL?? I said yep. and he never even thought about it and said you can have 'em all for 50 bucks but they have to be out of here by noon tomorrow. I paid the man and left there with 200 in the back of that P/U. By the time I got back to work I had sold 100 of them for a buck each at the local pawn shops and gun shops Sold a few more to the guys in our FD and we put lots of little stuff on the engines and crash trucks in the compartments...they were of course free to the department. Got the rest picked up the next day and sold another couple hundred in short order. Gave some to friends and still have more than 40 left. Most are full of bullets and lead ingots. Surprisingly 7 of those cans were full of new stripper clips. Wish I had kept 'em all(stripper clips). Someone told me in Md if you buy those ammo boxes you have to register 'em or something..?? no sense in that at all.
