With the recent threads on the U.S. Marshals..........
.............there might be some interest in this new book that is just now hitting the stores.
"Forging the Star
The Official Modern History
of the United States Marshal's Service"
by David Turk, U. S. Marshals Service Historian
The book on the left, "Lawmen" is by the previous Historian.

Thank you, lawandorder!
I'll have to get a copy of both of those books. The college that I teach at has had a partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service Centralized Student Career Experience Program (CSCEP) for many years. Quite a few of our graduates, (and my former students) have become, and continue to serve as Deputy Marshal's, and at least one of our graduates was appointed as the U. S. Marshal for our district.
One of my former students was killed in the line of duty, and his supervisor, another former student, was severely injured in a shooting here in West Virginia, while on duty as Marshal's. Many others are still serving in the service. We are very proud of our young men and women who have entered the Marshal's service, and I will read these accounts with great interest.
Thanks for the heads up!
Best Regards, Les

I've read The Lawmen. I thought it was a pretty good book. I've heard about the new one. I may have to check it out.
Another good book is Down Darkness Wide: U.S. Marshals and the Last Frontier. It's about the US Marshals serving in Alaska before it became a state.

Five of them came by here this morning. I asked them if I was being raided and they told me I wasn't and that they were looking for "Red The Convicted Child Molester/Meth Cook" who at one time lived across the road from me. He's been gone for three years and as a registered sex offender he has to register and give his correct address. He isn't doing this and will probably go back to jail because of it when they find him. Usually the ones that don't register are doing something they don't want known by LEO's.
