Default Read the book

I was wondering what is a good book on S&W, revolvers especially, that show and describe the different models and when they were in production. It would be nice to have information on the serial numbers to know approximate build dates. Value of the guns would be a plus.
Any suggestions for a very informative book?

Speaking of which, has anyone received the new SCSW version 4 yet? I ordered from Amazon as soon as it was announced and haven't seen hide nor hair.

This is the classic source of all things Smith and Wesson. The 4th Edition is supposed to be out in October.

That tells a lot about S&W revolvers, but the pricing data is way out of date. For the most current printed data on pricing you need the current Blue Book of Gun Values, and sometimes it's not right either.

Prices are fluid and regional. Best estimate for prices is completed auctions. I've always thought SCSW should just leave them out.

Author's "best guess" is now Thanksgiving.
