Thanks
I watched the hike last year a couple of times and enjoyed it. Been looking forward to another one.

I walked through the Paw-Paw tunnel once with a dog (70 pound Lab) who was afraid of the dark. Pretty interesting for the first 20 minutes or so, then she could see the "Light at the end of the Tunnel".....
A great place to hike and visit. I love the story of how back in the day, two stubborn flat boat captains met inside the tunnel, both going in opposite directions on the canal. After tying up boat traffic for two days, authorities stated a smoky fire inside the tunnel and flushed them out.

I always enjoy your videos Snubby! It was fun to see some of the terraine in your neck of the woods. You have a nice area in which to play and explore. This one was particularly interesting. I will confess, however, to being just a little bit disappointed. I was hoping that I would, at last, find out just what the heck a "paw paw" is. per the childhood limeric Pickin' up paw paws and puttin' 'em in my pocket. Sigh....

I don't like 'em. Some people do. They say it's somewhere between a mango and banana.
Just add a bit of a bitter after taste.

Really? Persimmons are good if you eat ripe ones at the right time. And you can fix 'em a bunch of different ways.
Just don't make the mistake of eating one that isn't ripe. They're extremely astringent. Possums love unripe ones, and if you've ever seen a possum eating one, and then try it yourself, you'll find out right quick why the possums make that horrible face when they eat one.

I didn't even consider the making of it as exercise.
Probably only a 3 mile walk all together.

3 miles!?!? Man you must be in pretty good shape. I might be able to do it but if I ever did I better be on my way to the emergency room. I get wore out just driving a car that far. I'm sittin' here tryin' to think of something I want bad enough to walk 3 miles for it. I can't think of a thing.

First, I too enjoyed your vid. 2nd-what's the diff tween the taste of a mango and a "nana? they taste the same to me-though both are funny in shape-and one has a large bone-like seed in the middle. 3rd-well, ive forgotten what the 3rd was going to be? Oh now I remember. 3rd) When I was touring Germany with Susanne-we too hiked down a mountain in a tunnel like yours in Garmisch-Partenkirchen-but I cant remember how long it took? Susanne hiked back up the mountain-I took the gondola instead.

In South East Ohio, we have Paw-Paws. The slang name for them
is "West Virginia Bannanas" The new generations don't go in for
them much. The older generation use to gather them and make
about anything that could be made from pumpkin out of them.
My wife subs Paw-Paw for Zuccini, in her Zuccini bread recipe. I
like them, but they taste to me like Paw-Paw. They are not even
close to Persimmons. If you ever tried to eat a green Persimmon
you will never forget it. Persimmons ripe are very sweet, after
a frost. The trick with them is to get them before the Coons and
other critters.

Not too bad for someone that was supposed to be in an electric scooty chair 4 or 5 years ago huh?
Took about a year to relearn to walk using the muscles that still work and walking helps to keep me walking.

Speaking of bananas-anyone want some of my banana-nut muffins? Im baking a batch tomorrow morning. Better call soon because folks are starting to stake claims (aint kidding either )) I make them in batches of 16--these will include half a large organic banana-and at least a cup of chopped Pecans.
Now back to your regularily scheduled thread.
