Incoming!
The "monsoon season" was officially over in Arizona on October 1. But they didn't consult the monsoons on that! This morning, an incoming storm took us all by surprise in Phoenix. Here's a shot I took of the ominous cloud bank that roared in, giving us more rain. I guess it was my fault; I washed my car yesterday. This is referred to as the "white man's rain dance" in these parts.

Great photo! I'm touching down in Phoenix later today, but I'd prefer a dose of hot sun one last time this year.

I'm getting the snow blower out of the shed and servicing it
this week in hopes we don't get snow.
It worked last winter.

Technically it's a winter type storm coming out of the west, as opposed to the tropical moisture that pumps north during monsoon. Up here in C. AZ we got some sprinkles, but mostly breezes and awesome skies. It's still like that today.

Great picture, very beautiful sky. I love that kind of cloud formation, ominous though it may appear.

It missed us out here in the desert, just a few puffy white clouds but no rain.

Got a good steady rain last night (probably the same front you photographed out west), and we were glad to have it. Here's an earlier monsoon dump well north of my office window in August.

What the Navajos call "male" rain. Female rain is the long, gentle, soaking winter rain. After a lifetime in the desert, I still like the girls better.

Erich, we have lived in Albuquerque twice over the years, and we've experienced some "interesting" weather there now and then. One thing I don't miss is the winter snow, although we often enjoyed it looking out of a picture window in the NE heights with a good view of the Sandias. Certainly picturesque!
You have a great city to live in - we do miss going to Old Town, the great gun shows at the fairgrounds, and the tram ride up to the Firehouse restaurant atop Sandia Peak.
But we don't have to shovel sunshine during the Phoenix winters!
John

John, you swing through again, give us a heads-up. The green chile chicken enchiladas are on me - and maybe a cerveza sitting in the backyard looking at the mountain in the foothills.

You're on, friend! One of my granddaughters is getting married in Santa Fe next year, so we might buzz thru ABQ on the way up to attend the ceremony. Green chicken enchiladas and a cold cerveza sounds good enough to make the trip even without the wedding! I'll stay in touch!
Best,
John

I was going to comment that I've seen those clouds before only in my area they have lots of snow. You beat me to it, but I beat you to the snow blower service because I did min in July.
There's nothing worse than a foot of snow in the driveway and a snow blower that won't start.
