Pawn shop finds today
I drove to NC today searching for things I couldn't live without. I found a few items I needed. Three spare magazines for my recently acquired Sig P230 and two speed loaders for my S&W 57, 58, & 657. All at decent prices. I could of spent a few hundred bucks more, luckily my wife was waiting in the car.

I walked into a pawn shop and they were having a 30% off sale. Walked out owning another Ruger 77. This one is a 300WM. Now have 77s in 223, 6mm, 25-06, 300Wm and 338WM
Love them 77s and pawn shops.

Looks like a decent haul. I try and check out certain local pawn shops whenever possible. One nearby shop has boxes full of old handgun magazines and holsters on a back shelf, only one of the old guys working there will let you look through the box.

I find that there really aren't any deals anymore. All want going price or more and won't dicker!

I like the speed loader prices! Here in Atlanta..... $10.00 to $15.00 dollars.

I have been seeing a lot of very old Colt revolvers for sale at the local pawn shop. I guess money is getting tight. Most of these guns look really poor condition but the prices don't reflect that at $700 for a $350 gun.

Risky how sir?
Here in Missouri, pawn shops must complete a detailed bill of sale on everything they purchase or pawn... no exceptions. They must also check with the police to see if the item(s) have been reported as stolen.
They cannot buy/pawn anything with a defaced/removed serial number . I would not be worried about purchasing anything from a pawnshop located in Missouri. We have bought more than a few power tools from pawn shops and several good firearms.

I would take that to mean that it is hard to walk into one and not walk out with another gun. Some folks are on a budget, or as a poster said, have a spouse waiting in the car. Fortunately, I am in neither category. However, there are no deals here in the valley.

When I said risky I meant to my wallet as in I end up buying something that I just have to have!

I love pawn shops. I have got many good deals. I figure pawns shops are there to make money but they don't have to make all on me, I low ball them on anything I want to buy. A number of them will deal. I have picked up a few Marlin model 60 22's for $70-$100. Tools can had a good price if you have time to shop.

Pawn shops aren't any deals. They buy extremely low and sell extremely high. Case in point - I took my Singer M1911A1 to the pawn shop and was offered $250 because they said it was an old WWII gun! When I asked about the M1911A1 they had in their display case (a Remington Rand slide on a Colt frame with a $2100 price tag), they said it was a rare, special mode made by two companies!
Never have been back in the store!

Once upon a time, I had an acquaintance who was a retired APD officer that worked as a manager for a chain pawn shop. Upside was I never bought anything new from a retail store. Downside, after visiting his store I never had any money. hardcase60
