Wanenmacher Thread/Tulsa Gun Show
Didn't see a thread, so I made my own. Who all is going to Tulsa this year? What are you selling or what are you looking for? Again, I have to make the doughnuts, so I am only sending stuff. Should be a crazy one either way the election goes, but you will still get crop dusted either way. Good luck and watch your toes...

I'll be there. I'll be wearing a hunter orange Barq's Root Beer cap. If you see one say hello. I'm not looking for anything in particular, just looking. Lee should be along later to tell you about the shoes.

Imagine I'll be there. And no telling what it will be like due to election.
I wont be shopping for the tacticool stuff, just maybe a decent deal on something interesting, which might be several different things.
ETA:
Mainly different things of the S&W persuasion.

This is a great show that I have attended in the spring. However, the fall show lands on the opener of Ks pheasant season, so birds get the priority.

I imagine it will be a little nuts. Watch out for all of the scooters and such. The collectible stuff may be okay, the mall ninja stuff will be high.

I get to do neither. The fall show is the better of the two. I wish you well on your bird hunt. Weather may be crazy. Though, I do like it warm.

Walking out the door. Getting ready to endure a 10-12 drive, depending on how many times we stop.

I'll be there tomorrow. I learned the hard way about good footwear at that show. I wear my composite toe work shoes as I can walk all day in them. I'm taking a M&P 9c for sale or trade and my4516 mainly to get a good holster for it. I'll be looking for a Beretta and a couple S&W handguns

Quick post: Any recommendations for good local restaurants in the area? Looking for something quick prior to the show and something more filling before the drive back to Salina. Thanks all!

Walked that show end to end and wall to wall today. Found a Remington 1100 with a skeet tube for 400.00. I was on a mission so I didn't get to look at any Smiths. I also noticed an almost festive attitude in the air for some reason.

Had a good time today at the show, saw prices from good to crazy high on S&W revolvers. Passed on buying a model 58 that had been refinished with some black baked on finish.

Your feet must be sore if you walked that whole show in one day.

They were. When you're looking for one specific item you can do it. Got to where I could spot an 1100 on rack or table at a distance. Made notes then went back and picked the best deal.

I saw this gun also. The 58 you were looking at was originally owned by a friend of mine here in Mississippi. When he got it the finish was very worn and it had some internal problems. He fixed the internals and sent it to Walter Birdsong and had a Black T finish put on it. I would have left it as it was, but each to his own. He sold it for much less than the Tulsa asking price.

I sent several and the big ones came back. Strange that all of my rimfires, a throwdown and a Taurus sold, though some may say that Taurus is a throwdown. My 19 didn't sell and that's okay. Dealer day was apparently a bust. That's usually when all the stuff trades hands anyway. Oh well, maybe stability is going to hang out for awhile.

The crowd was thin, black guns were dead in the water. The show was easier to navigate than ever, things were a little quiet. Plastic 30 round mags and Kel-techs were not on center stage for once in 8 years. The good news is nice old Smith and Wessons were trading like clock work which was right up my alley. Fads and phases come and go ,, spikes in gun sales come and go due to politics and the media hype. Those old 5 screws just roll right through it all never missing a beat regardless who's in the whitehouse. Real gun collectors will always be there to buy good old guns , long after the weekend warriors and six gun toting soccer moms lose interest to the next big thing they see on TV or read about on facebook. I was glad to see a real old school gunshow for once , without all the circus mentality. It's was rather nice.

Went to Tulsa last spring for the first time, it was a bucket list item. Bought an engraved S&W, that was on the list also. Great time, some of the Ohio Collecters got me in with them. It was an expensive weekend, may not go back again. There were some great deals there, and hard to find guns. Larry

I was there, found something I wasn't looking for. A Colt New Agent in 9MM spoke to me as I walked past it. I'm a sucker for a pretty face with a sad story so it came home with me.
I too noticed it was not as crowded as I have seen. A friend of mine who sets up at the show also made the same comment to me. There was no sense of urgency for guns or ammo. I saw brick after brick of (still) overpriced .22LR ammo languishing on dealers tables. I didn't buy any, neither did anyone else I saw. I hope the hoarder/flippers lose their rears on it. Rant over.

I had a great time even though I was unable to walk the whole show. I ran into quite a few friends there. One of them lives across the creek from me and he was dragging 70 lbs. of Civil War cannonballs to his car. His backpack was crammed full of stuff also. I had found a seat and offered him one so he could rest a little before continuing on. I picked up another M1 carbine to add to the herd and also another Ithaca riot gun. I found a lot of small stuff, like a flap holster for a K frame, and other odds and ends. Jr. added to his old helmet collection X 4 and found a real nice knife in the parking lot. I took my 11 year old granddaughter with me this time and we got separated only once. The nice service lady took to the microphone and reeled her back in for me. It was fun and I'll probably do it again.

Wait, you were with an eleven year old girl and you used the service desk? Why didn't you just call her on her phone?

It was a great show and has already been said not as crowded as usual. I did very well, I got the fourth edition book and got it signed by Rick Nahas and Jim Supica both. Both are fine gentlemen. I also picked up some small stuff, sights, magazines, etc.
I was doing pretty well and pretty cheap, then.........
For several years I have collected single shot Winchester .22s. I had at least one example of every single shot that Winchester produced, except a model 58 and a model 1900. I have looked for years for these two rifles and nearly every one I saw was either cracked or had a chunk out of the stock. I spotted a model 58 on a table and asked to see it. IT WASN'T Cracked! I looked again and right next to it was a model 1900 in equally nice shape. I left several dollars in Tulsa that day. They're not perfect, but pretty nice for being over 100 years old. I had a good day.
I guess now I'll have to look for variants. There is no end to this.
