Happy Birthday to My Father/ Happy Anniversary Natayo
My Father was born on this day in 1921.
After his death in '97, I light a sugar cookie candle on his birthday.
Every year my Mom usta cook sugar cookies for the holiday's. They wouldn't last long with my Dad around.
Lighting a sugar cookie scented candle always reminds of him.
My Father was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean war. He was as tough as they come. Even though he had bits of his body blown away and walked kinda funny, he never complained.
He was truly a member of the greatest generation of MEN ever.
I miss my Dad.
I gotta get a digital picture of him.
Also, on this day 3 years ago, when my wife was walking home from work, a furry little bag of bones ran out from under our back porch and climbed up my wife's jacket. My wife put him on the floor and that little, bony furball soon found every bit of edibles in the house.
He was a feral little cat about 8 months old.
We took him to the vet.
He had 2 different kinds of worms.
He got treated for the worms and given a clean bill of health.
He soon became Zachary's little buddy:
Until Zachary died last March.
Natayo:
Blackfoot word for cat.
Creative huh, I named our cat, cat.

Thanks to you both for the neat posts/pix... My dad was born in Jan of 1921... so close in age they were... dad was WWII combat vet,, first in the Aleutians then all of Europe...He had Dog Co. 310th Inf. 78th Division, the same Div. as Mel Blanc, but I never knew he was in it until long after dad passed in March of 2000.

Snub, you know you don't pick out your cat, they pick you out. Sorta like hiring staff. (Which is exactly what you are...).
Smart cat, that Natayo. He knew you came from good stock.

Thank you for sharing.
A heart-warming story. The good dads are special. I lost mine two years ago.

Well, snub, you are right about dads and cats both. The GF was worrying that our four grumpy old neutered tom cats would all pass away at the same time (they're all over ten years old), leaving us catless, and she found a little semi feral kitten near her mom's old home, and brought it to our home. Shots, deworming etc., but she was lonely, needed someone close to her own age. So I'm up at the cabin, and hear a pitiful meowing on the porch. Yep, a little sister for the first one. So now we have Baby and Bella. Saturday they will get the next round of kitten shots. Our old timers are: Sylvester, Buddy, Little Boy (LB), and Earl. We also have one dog, Erma, although no one has had the heart to tell her that's what she is, and we never mention it for fear she'll find out.
Best Regards, Les
