Christmas Present for My Wife
My wife is the best decision I ever made. Of course, she chased me until I caught her... so it was finally my best decision. Did I mention she was smarter than me? We are a real team and have worked together in whatever life has brought us. She carries a S&W everyday (so do I) and is a good shot. Now, I have a question, what do you give a woman that has everything? She doesn't want/need a new car, gun, flat screen, jewelry, perfume, laptop, shoes, boots or clothing and is not being helpful by letting me know what she is wanting... and Christmas is getting closer. I am thinking I will give her a shopping spree of $1K for after Christmas sales... but, it will be hidden in a $350 electric smoker that she will unwrap. Figure it will be fun to watch her open it and pretend to be thrilled. (I could give her a football and she would pretend to love it. She is just that way.) In the weather we are experiencing (bitter cold), being able to monitor the things I cook for us like brisket, tenderloin, pork roast, etc... from inside my warm house sounds pretty good to me. Of course, she would buy it for me if I told her that is what I want. But I think it would be fun. What do you think? Merry Christmas everyone!

I'd say go for it. But I also hope she has a sense of hummer.

What a lovely testament you've shared. Congratulations, your both very lucky.
The best gifts for me from my husband are adventures we share. We both love to travel and explore on our own, with no set itinerary, like a fly-drive vacation. We go at the shoulder seasons so that lodging is available without reservations.
Portugal is a wonderful destination for a low stress, romantic get away, among a very endearing population.
Merry Christmas.

Been married for 36 years to the greatest gal on this planet. She never asks for anything but does love getting well thought out gifts.
This year I got her a very nice Tag Heuer watch. When it got here last week I gave it to her then. Life has sure been nice since she got it.

I have learned that EARRINGS are always the right size, always in the right price range. That being said, women have preferences, such as Gold, Silver, or Black. Diamonds, Rubies, or Emeralds. Clip-on or pierced. Big and flashy, or discrete (sometimes I think my wife would like a pair of fishing lures!)
Earrings are my go to and back-up gifts (I always try to have 2 or 3 sets hidden for emergencies.)
I have used earrings as decoys also. She sees a receipt, or a box, and knows that I haven't forgot a date of Importance. Then she gets something like what you are doing! Most wives "Of the long term" like the thought as much or even more than any thing. While they are priceless, they usually avoid extravagances (and want us to avoid them also!)
Half a lifetime ago, it was our 17th anniversary, and we had 4 kids in school and I had a very limited budget! I literally found a trunk sized picnic basket and put 17 "ideas" in it. One was a party for two, there were old movies she always wanted to see, 17 of her favorite candy bar, not too expensive, but thoughtful. In the top where she would see it was a sign "Life with you is a picnic!"
She can play the game too. For our 30th anniversary, she gave us a cruise. She had my Christmas gifts all packaged in new luggage. The gifs were for the cruise also, Tropical shirts, light weight pants, and Air sick pills! (they actually worked!).
Your idea of the Smoker, it is a great decoy. A box or a case of ammo is another great way to hide things like gift cards or tickets.
Enjoy the wife of your youth.

BEEN married for 46 years.. We don't want for much anymore.. At our age, if we want it, we buy it. Not that we're rich, but what the heck are we waiting for....The best thing you can give your spouse is your attention... Be there for them...listen, laugh. do something, even something little that tells them how much you cherish them...Don't regret later, something you might have done better when you had the chance to do it.....
