I'm thinking your talking about bout Taylor pork roll. Last I saw it was in a red and white box in the cold meat section of the store, I may be wrong.

Taylor Pork Roll is more summer sausage/salami like and comes in a red and white box. It also must be refrigerated. Not much on SPAM, but I will tear up some Taylor's!!!

Cut thin, fried in cast iron to a crisp outside, over a wood fire. Served with eggs on top, cooked medium in bacon fat, with a good cup of black coffee.
(This is not cardiologist approved.)

I like it pan fried with scrambled eggs or room temperature in a sandwich(I still need to find the best combination of other ingredients). I don't eat it very much, due to my mom's strong dislike(borderline hatred) of it(she had it often as a kid). Although I get it from time to time. Also this thread has inspired me to try it with A1 and to keep it as emergency food.

I enjoy a "Spam-ich" which is refrigerated Spam cut in to thick slabs, put on fresh white bread and covered with ketchup!

Fried Spam on buttered toast with a bit of mustard, chopped with scrambled eggs. I love it. My wife hates it yet she'll fix me my Spam & eggs for breakfast. Gotta love her.

I like Grey Poupon's Country Dijon mustard. It's darker and different from their regular Dijon mustard.
Apply fried Spam and mustard to whole wheat bread for a sandwich.
Probably even better with lettuce and red onion.

It was good enough during ww2 to feed our armed forces.
I like it sliced thin and crispy.
The shelf life is forever if kept in a cool dry place. It's my prepper food. Besides the peanutbutter and jelly.

I eat steak medium rare, I eat spam crispy. I eat spam the same way I eat steak with a fork and knife of course. Lmao
I love the sound of spam crackling in the skillet and the smell of it in the morning it just makes me hungry.
If the world comes to an end I'd rather have spam to eat than my neighbors cat(Chinese) lol

The Army used to serve Spam frequently as the main meat at any of the three meals. When I was on a troop ship going to Korea, the Navy served us spam at every meal. You don't think Uncle Sam and his military would be serving a food product that was not good for soldiers and sailors would he?

When I was a kid there was nothing my dad liked better than breakfast for dinner on a Saturday night. During good times when the construction industry was booming we had steak and scrambled eggs. During strikes or busts we had Spam and eggs.
Spam was a regular at my early deer camps too, but later on we decided we'd all pitch in just a little more and buy side pork or bacon. I haven't had Spam in years. If I'm eating canned meat now days it's going to be tuna.

spam is great for camping.
we never had freeze dried food except mac n cheese.
we only had fresh meat on day one of a canoe trip.
after a few days, spam looks pretty good.

Cubed and tossed in a pan with some fine chopped onion..or, better yet, some chopped scallions...both the whites and the greens. Fry till it's getting golden brown. Toss in a blob of butter or bacon grease and crack some eggs into it and scramble!

Score the top into 1/2" squares. Insert a clove in to each square. Cover in foil and bake at 350 for 20 to 30 minutes. While it is baking put equal parts of yellow mustard and honey in a cup and mix well. Remove from oven, remove foil, coat well with mix, then return to oven uncovered for another 10 to 15 minutes.
Done in a Coleman Camp Oven in the barracks equals a Private's Ham.

This Thread keeps bringing back some not so fond memories of my childhood. My mom use to fry it in Oleomargarine because we couldn't afford butter. She would give the Oleo to us kids to mix up before she put it in the frying pan to fry the Spam. We would squeeze the Oleo in the bag until it all turned yellow. Seems like we had Spam for lunch and dinner a few times a week. Guess that's why I don't really care for it, although it must be pretty good brain food because it made me real smart!

ringo, i've had grilled cheese with mozerella, aged cheddar or brie.
sometimes with romano added.
i like all those cheeses but not in grilled cheese.
same with cheese burgers.
plain old american suits me best, tho i keep nice cheeses around for other uses.
to make it perfect, i add some ham or bacon to grilled cheese.

I hear ya ma'am. I love yellow American "cheese" but can't stand the white version as it somehow (color aside) doesnt take after the yellow version and tastes different to me.

LOL... me too...... IIRC got a few cans in my TEOTWAWKI stash..... along with some 1lb canned hams and canned Corned beef....
all are things from my childhood....... not often; but every once in a while Dad would get a hankering for one of the above........ or a batch of soaked overnight...... "Navy beans & ham"..........
Always made me wonder what exactly the US Coast Guard was doing in the South Pacific and the Philippians ...........

Cut criss-cross about 1/4" deep with a clove in each diamond and baked just like the Momma used to make it 60+ years ago, or fried in cast iron.
Then I go to McDonalds to get something to eat.

If you have a WM or HEBs near ya? they have it. If not? I can easily get you several varieties and send if you wish? I havent yet tried their "Mexican Rice" and a few others but, ive tried their Teriyaki flavored and didnt care for it. Knorr also has severaal varieties of flavored noodles as well.

Neither of those two stores here, but I'll check and advise. Thanks for the offer to send me some!! If I can find it here, that'll save the trouble. I really appreciate the offer!!!!

Knoor's rice is good the store that I go to had it on sale a few weeks ago I bought about 10 bags. I can't believe this thread on Spam is 3 pages long, maybe we should move this to the Health and Fitness thread.

I usually do that when they have sales as well. Then I often forget I bought some-and buy more. Im in the process of eating up older stock.
