...a few blocks west of the home where I grew up was the site of the old Merchant's Park baseball field on south Broadway in Denver...greats like Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig played in exhibition games there...by the time I was riding my bicycle down there...it had been replaced by a shopping center and bowling alley...the big building in the background was Montgomery Wards...it too...now gone...
...South Denver High School...where I graduated in 1971...is shown in this photo having the finishing touches done before classes started in 1920...

A couple more "random things" as some know me as a cat lady.
Queen LaGray. She lost half an ear doing time at the SPCA, special feral unit. It's part a mandatory sentence along with getting spayed since she was busted for prolific breeding. She still rules her roost. Here is a picture of her sitting on top of her throne. I like the void effect and her facial grimace which seems to highlight her tough nature.
This is one of my favorite pictures. I call it Cat Graffiti. The feral cats at the shop were "tagging the fence" using it as a scratching post and also making marks when they hopped it. You have to look closely. Sadly, the empty field has been developed into a storage lot for a neighboring business so the fence is no more. Glad I have this shot to remember it by.
Henry. He is Queen LaGray's grandson. An example of what a proper "ear tip" should look like. Enough for trappers like me to notice, but not lopped off like the above.

Not an artistic photograph, but one that means a lot to me. My son after the last game of the season when they won the league championship.

Christmas day a few years ago right before escaping Little Rock .....
.....................I took my wife to work due to a heavy snowfall. The Confederate memorial statue there on the State Capitol grounds was transformed by the wet snow giving the Soldier an almost skeletal appearance.

How about this "seat" I salvaged from an old outhouse that was on my property. I believe it was in use till the late 70s. It's pretty rough and would probably put callouses where you don't want them! I love the flip up cover. It was "modernized" with a toilet paper roll holder made from a paint can bail on the wall. It is sitting on the green barrel for photo only we don't use it that way although I have threatened my grandsons with that!

I guesstimate this thing to be about a foot in diameter and twenty-five to thirty feet off the ground. Pic taken by the Kentucky River in Jessamine Co.
I guess this one missed the memo, lol, "Birds with the same feather…"

The inmates would use bits of wire they stole from somewhere, then stick the wires into an electrical outlet, in the way usually in the "day room" where the tvs are located, and the wires would hear up any coil they had to heat up coffee, soups etc. That of course is against prison rules but of course-they care nothing for rules. Also besides against the rules-big time fire hazzard. Often when I was making my rounds-you'd smell that electrical burn smell, and knew when they were warming something up. As much as I hated doing so-inmate would be written a few cases-which might add time to their sentences. Confiscation of the stinger on the spot-but id let them keep the food instead of making them throw it away like most COs would do. Doing that one simple thing-could mean you leave on time instead of staying late because inmate got pissed and created some situation that would never happen if COs used their brains.

There are some amazing photos here!
I have a couple myself. Here's a shot of a mural on the side of a building. In back of Beth's Cafe in Seattle, a couple of local artists painted their rendition of the inside of the restaurant. If you've never been, it's an interesting place, to say the least, and the food is top-notch. If you look closely, you can see the cinder blocks.

as for many of us winter is in full stride, thought i'd toss in a couple flower pix as well. The sunflower shot is from summer, there's a large sunflower farm here that opens to the public under full bloom. Very impressive site to see 1/2 million sunflowers on a sunny day.
The other 2 are taken this winter; Madison has an indoor garden at one of its parks; warm with blooming flowers all winter long. Actually can be so humid inside it takes awhile for the camera lens to get to normal for focus, clarity, etc..

and finally, while thanks to the wife of 30 yrs I've had more good times than bad in my life, there's been a couple moments that I truly treasure. The birth of our daughter and the birth of our grandson are at the top.
One other moment, which a photographer was able to capture for us, was at our daughter's wedding. I was not allowed to see her dress beforehand, it was to be a surprise for when i came to walk her down the aisle. So as i rounded the corner and saw her that first time, i became full of emotion as did she. This is one of my all time fave family pix. Yes, they were tears of joy lol.

From opposite ends of the spectrum... A vine covered wall at Torrey Pines and a conductor's ticket punch from the Union Pacific's old passenger train system.

Great pics. The great thing about pics is the memories about them.

I know this isn't a 'I wish I could reshoot thread.'
But I wish I could reshoot this water wheel powered woodworking shop down in Costa Rica.
All the large tools- saws, drills, planers and such are water driven.
The overshot wheel is unseen on the left side jammed between the building and a hill.

I'm gonna have to get back to you.
Most of my stuff is in rather deep storage after the fire. I'm a master of random object photographs.

Noticed multiple time turtles hanging by the gators, never really figured out why they relaxed in the sun with each other

Was that Magnolia Plantation, in Schriever, Louisiana?
